McDonnell – Drill Here, Drill Now

Virginia Governor-elect Bob McDonnell does not want the federal government to further delay the granting of leases off the Virginia coast.
"It is time to develop our offshore energy resources to create new jobs and provide necessary new revenue for schools, roads, public safety and alternative energy research and development in Virginia," McDonnell wrote to U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar.
Gov. Tim Kaine has been less than supportive of exploration off of Virginia’s coast. In February, he asked the Dept. of the Interior to postpone the process of awarding exploration leases.
Here is a link to the text of McDonnell’s letter to Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.

Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine will be visiting Maryland later this month. It seems that Kaine needs to spend some time with his own kind, so he will be attending the Maryland Democrat Party’s “United for Change” gala on October 27th.
Given the current fiscal state of the Commonwealth, Kaine will sip from the liberal waters north of the Potomac and have the opportunity to spend time with a Governor doing a worse job than Kaine, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley. Virginians should find it amusing that Kaine has time to engage in out of state, partisan politics while his budget is blowing up in his face.
Already forced to make symbolic cuts in his own office (I thought we were going to cut travel Tim?), after both Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling and AG Bob McDonnell made voluntary cuts in their own budgets, Kaine is now forced to slash programs to make up for ridiculously rosy revenue forecasts he made in this budget.

Will Tim Kaine Blame Mark Warner for Virginia’s Deficit?
August 14, 2008 by Cato

It appears that Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine’s budget has about $1 billion too much spending. In a state that requires a balanced budget, what’s a liberal to do? Raise taxes, of course!
But wait! Every good liberal needs to blame someone. Will Kaine try the same trick as his predecessor? There’s no question that the GOP legislators who voted for this bag of air deserve some of the blame. There is also no question that people like Mark Warner and Tim Kaine – who are trying to make Virginia more like Maryland – deserve their share as well.

The buzz is all over the liberal Virginia blogosphere that it won’t be Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine. Using similar logic, hours beforehand, Delaware Liberal infers that the man to sit at the right hand of the Messiah is Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE).
I hope they’re right. We saw how Biden caught on with the national populace during his previous national runs.
