Joe Wilson, Hero?

Much has been made on talk radio and in the conservative media about Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) “being pushed under the bus” by his own leadership. This is hogwash in its worse form. Wilson certainly isn’t being pushed under the bus and he certainly isn’t a hero for speaking the truth.
Yes, Wilson spoke the truth when he yelled that President Barack Obama’s statement that illegal aliens wouldn’t be covered under ObamaCare was a “LIE”. It was then, is now. That is why Democrats have consistently refused to allow any type of status checking for their socialized medicine scheme.
Regardless, Wilson had no business shouting it out during Obama’s address. Worse than being rude, the man knows better. A native of Charleston and a graduate of Washington & Lee, Wilson was brought up to be a gentleman. He should have behaved as such. If he was a Yankee …
Unfortunately, Wilson is being rewarded for his poor behavior; having raised over $1 million in the 48 hours after his outburst. Of course, his opponent has raised $800,000 in roughly the same period.
Wilson has apologized. That should be the end of the matter. While he behaved badly, he didn’t assault anyone. However, liberals must always play the victim. Now they want to officially admonish Wilson for his outburst. This is not only equally wrong, it merely shows what hypocrites House Democrats are. Their own leadership (Pelosi and Hoyer) called those of us opposed to ObamaCare Un-American. Pelosi has even called us Nazis. But that’s OK. Sending thugs to attack ordinary citizens is OK too. Just don’t say anything bad about the messiah.
Just because Democrats act that way doesn’t mean that we should. Wilson is no hero, but the Democrats will make him one if they keep it up.

When Jim Ireton was running for mayor many folk asked how I could support a flaming liberal like Jim Ireton. The answer was simple. Jim Ireton never hid the fact that he was (to be kind) left of center. Yet, like councilwoman Terry Cohen, Ireton professed a responsible approach to city government despite his spendthrift attitudes towards state and federal fiscal policy. That said, Ireton doesn’t get a free pass for attacking average citizens in order to shill for “his friend”, Rep. Frank Kratovil (D-MD).
Appearing on Delmarva Talks with Bill Reddish this morning, Ireton ridiculed average citizens who gathered last week to share their concerns about ObamaCare with Kratovil at several town hall meetings. Ireton accused voters of “having marching orders” and shouting down Kratovil. Ireton specifically cited Kratovil’s meeting at Mardela Jr. / Sr. High School. Here’s some video:
That older gentleman really was SCARY! Wasn’t he?

First District Congressman “Blue Dog” Frank Kratovil may just wind up on next season’s Dancing With the Stars. To get re-elected, he needs to keep that left wing, special interest money flowing. To do that, he must do the bidding of the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, and Chris Van Hollen. Yet, by doing their bidding he risks that very same re-election. For these reasons, Kratovil is always engaged in some new dance designed to deceive his constituents while staying in the good graces of his DC masters. Kratovil’s newest dance is the “ObamaCare Shuffle”.
According to “Blue Dog” Frank, we need to be “deliberative”:

Where was the leadership during yesterday’s bailout debacle in the Congress? It surely wasn’t wasn’t coming from either the Democrat or GOP camps. Unfortunately, hypocrisy – the life’s blood of Washington – seemed to be in ample supply on both sides of the aisle. With claims that the world economy will collapse without action by the US Congress, it’s been politics as usual – except the players are getting more air time.
It’s the Democrats fault. No, all of the blame lies with Republicans. Let’s blame it all on President Bush. Your head will literally spin watching the players pass the buck.
While everyone spoke prior to yesterday’s vote, if you were a Democrat you seemed to parrot the same speech:
We need to all come together because this is the nation’s problem. It’s the world’s problem. And of course we all know that this is due to the failed economic policies of the Republicans.
Republicans used a similar tack; simply claiming that this debacle lays at the feet of Dems.
You’ll seldom here me say this, but the truth is somewhere in the middle. It is absolutely true that we can trace the root of SOME of these problems to the Clinton administration … even the administration of Jimmy Carter. It is equally true that too many Republicans approved of a system bereft of reasonable regulation and allowing institutions to merge to the point that they were too big too fail.

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley was once a rising young star among the liberal elite. That no longer appears to be the case.
Accustomed to being treated like left-wing royalty, O’Malley has no real part to play in this week’s Democrat National Convention. While Marylanders Barbara Mikulski, Steny Hoyer, Chris Van Hollen and Elijah Cummings all have speaking roles, O’Malley has been relegated to the role of average delegate.
Why? O’Malley justifies the cool breeze because of his early support for Sen. Hillary Clinton. Perhaps. It is more likely because O’Malley is an unpopular Democrat governor in one of the bluest of blue states.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer is right about one thing – people want a change. Unfortunately for Frank Kratovil, he’s not the change they want.
First District Republicans have already voted for a change. They voted for Andy Harris. There is no doubt that the voters will confirm that choice in November.
Rep. Wayne Gilchrest is a good man. In my opinion, he was always honest with the people of his district. He never claimed to be something that he wasn’t. Why would the people of this district want to replace him with a politician like Frank Kratovil whose primary interest is himself, rather than the people who elected him.
We deserve better, and we’ll get it with Andy Harris.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) claims that the pork-laden, slush fund recently passed by Congress is needed to help stabilize the U.S. economy. Of course this has nothing to do with the fact that PG County, which is partly in Hoyer’s district, make up 30% of Maryland foreclosures. Nor does it matter that this bill will funnel billions to left wing groups and politically friendly contractors.

According to Politicker MD, 1st District Dem congressional hopeful Frank Kratovil just didn’t have a very good week. Not only is he listed as a loser in their weekly “Winners & Losers” column, Kratovil has managed to make some news almost everyday this week that is damaging to his campaign – particularly in a moderately conservative district like the First.
Kratovil’s campaign admits that they will probably lose the fundraising race to Maryland Sen. Andy Harris (R-7). That’s the kind of message potential donors always want to hear. Of course, there’s no shortage of money coming from special interest groups and lefty pals, despite Kratovil’s claim that he “represents our values”.
This leads to probably the most damning admission of all. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) stated this past week that Kratovil will “work with his party after winning a place in Congress”. As we have noted in the past, Kratovil is just one more example of post-modern Democrat candidate – run as a conservative and govern as a liberal.
In all fairness to Kratovil, we have always contended that he truly is not a liberal. If elected, he will govern as one because that is what Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer will tell him to do. That is also where his money will be coming from. In reality, there is no evidence that Kratovil actually believes in anything, other than electing Frank Kratovil.
To me, more than the events noted above, this is what makes Frank Kratovil a REAL LOSER; not just for this week, but for the entire race.
