McHenry Shows Why GOP Not Ready to Return to Majority

Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) has never been a conservative.  In many ways McHenry is the Frank Kratovil of the GOP.  He has no true philosophy.  When it can get him votes, he claims the mantle of Reagan.  When it suits, he sucks up to the Bush wing of the party.  Basically, the guy would sell his parents for the right number of votes.

Greg Sargent claims that McHenry is a “key player in crafting the Republican message.”  If this is true, this only proves that we are not ready to move back to the majority.

McHenry’s view:

We will lose on legislation. But we will win the message war every day, and every week, until November 2010,” said Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., an outspoken conservative who has participated on the GOP message teams. “Our goal is to bring down approval numbers for [Speaker Nancy] Pelosi and for House Democrats. That will take repetition. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Read more

The Morning Line – February 16, 2009

Delaware -

Sunday marked the 100 day mark to Memorial Day.  As business owners in Ocean City and the Delaware beaches prepare for the coming season I’m sure that they’re all hoping that PORKULUS has at least some substance to go with all of the bacon.

Maryland -

O’Malley administration is licking its chops over PORKULUS.

Maryland all set to continue issuing licenses to illegals.

It’s for the children … until we need the money.  PG County’s telephone tax was forced on residents “to aid schools”.  Now the tax and spend Maryland legislature is going to take some for themselves.

Virginia -

As revenues plunge, Gov. Tim Kaine will give the legislature a “revised” forecast today.

Bearing Drift let’s us know which bills we need to keep an eye on in the Virginia General Assembly.

Was GOP AG candidate Ken Cuccinelli a Marine or not?  Enquiring minds want to know.

National -

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) notes that President Barack Obama is “backtracking” on his promises of bipartisanship.  I guess the “change” is Democrat-speak for “business as usual”.

Obama guru David Axelrod refuses to answer whether the Obama administration will attempt to re-impose the Fairness Doctrine (better known as the kick all conservatives off of TV and radio rule).

Axelrod defends Geithner.  I guess when the Obama administration promises a “detailed program” to fix the credit crisis, they really mean that they’ll “deliver some platitudes”.  It’s obviously the markets’ fault that the translation was botched.

Axelrod on Economy – “We’ll see results of stimulus quickly”… but “it’s going to take time.”

He may be cute, articulate, and charismatic but the ONE obviously isn’t the one for President.

With all that is going on in the world today, do we really want someone in the White House who ADMITS that he needs on the job training?

Volunteer Disfigured Because of Support for McCain

Is this what America has come to?  John McCain has been pilloried in the MSM for remarks supposedly made by some supporters at rallies.  Barack Obama has publicly called on his supporters to “get in their face“:

I want you to argue with them and get in their face,” he said.

Well, at least one Obama-supporting thug has taken the “ONE” a little too seriously.

081024CutFace

Ashley Todd, a 20 year old McCain volunteer from Texas was viciously attacked in Pittsburgh.  While the initial attack was simple robbery, the Obama thug became incensed at the McCain bumper sticker on her car:

Todd handed the man $60 she had in her pocket and stepped away from him, investigators said. The man then noticed the bumper sticker on the woman’s car, which was parked in front of the ATM. The man became very angry, made comments to Todd about John McCain and punched her in the back of the head, knocking her to the ground, police said.

“He continued to kick and punch her repeatedly and said he would teach her a lesson for supporting John McCain,” said police Chief Nate Harper.

The man then carved the “B” into Todd’s right cheek.

I wonder what the “B” stands for?

The Media and Sarah Palin

A recent article on the Huffington Post exemplifies the media’s attitude towards Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin – she’s just too “folksy” and isn’t smart enough for the liberal elite.  This also explains why a VP candidate has had such a huge impact on the presidential race.

The lead to Arianna Huffington’s post sets the stage:

I watched the vice presidential debate in a ballroom at the Four
Seasons hotel in Aviara, just north of San Diego, along with a couple
of hundred women attending Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit…

The average voter always hangs out at the Four Seasons – Aviara, at a SUMMIT, no less.
