Delaware’s Profile Soaring … Is That A Good Thing?

nemski at DelawareLiberal seems to think so but does Delaware really need Vice President Joe Biden as the unofficial First State poster child? Biden makes George W Bush look like the chairman of the Oxford Union. While Gov. Jack Markell is governing far more responsibly than many of us thought he would, both Markell and Delaware have a ways to go to repair the damage done by previous administrations.
nemski is right about one thing – you really should read this article from the Wilmington News-Journal. Then ask yourself if these supposed “men of the people” are really good for the image of the First State?

Delaware -
Firm with ties to Joe Biden’s family showing signs of trouble.
Cape District voters reject shift of funds.
Wilmington Charter President not going quietly.
Does this explain a lot about our friends at DelawareLiberal (and leftists in general)?
Maryland -
Why is parental consent needed for a tattoo, but not for a kid to get an abortion?
Propaganda at its finest. It’s NEVER the fault of the left.
from SbyNEWS – a little over the top, but true.

While his hometown paper attempts to prop up the faltering reputation of Delaware’s favorite son, Joe Biden seems destined for the typical role a Vice President, if that. Candidate Obama may have felt a need for Biden to help bolster non-existent foreign policy credentials. President-elect Obama has a team that seems to make Biden redundant at best.

… and Barack Obama’s Total Lack of Character.
Human Events editor Jed Babbin wrote an excellent column this week regarding a key strategy being employed by Barack Obama and his handlers. Basically, the Dems want to paint John McCain with the same brush that LBJ and his lefty acolytes painted Sen. Barry Goldwater back in 1964.
Personally, I say let them try. The conservative movement was in its toddling stage back then; and the world is a far different place. If Obama’s folk want to claim that McCain is some sort of war-monger it’s fine by me; and I’m a pacifist. Our post 9/11 America will be more comforted by a military man who isn’t afraid of being tough on our nation’s enemies than Obama – who aspires to be the modern equivalent of Neville Chamberlin.
One item in Babbin’s column that is too often overlooked by most of us is Obama’s complete disdain for the military. It’s almost Clintonesque.

The sacred south remains an important factor in national elections. How will Barack Obama fair?
Probably not very well. Southerners, as a rule, love and respect the military. We love football and NASCAR. Guns are a way of life (whether we hunt or not), not something we do on weekends. We don’t put up with phonies nor appreciate being pandered to.
Yet, left wingers like Barack Obama and Joe Biden feel nothing but comtempt for us. We’re hayseeds… rubes… idiots. We talk funny. One of the greatest regrets of my life was moving north and over time losing what Yankees referred to as “my accent”, which was never as distinct as many of my friends and neighbors.
Sorry, I digress.
In Human Events, AWR Hawkins asks the prescient question, “When is Barack going to shoot the goose?”. We know that it has to come.
This is when liberal Dems get their picture taken in neatly pressed, spanking new camo, holding a gun, acting like “one of us”. They also attend the obligatory NASCAR race. Maybe they’ll attend an SEC or ACC football game.
Given the media’s love affair with the ONE, at least Obama won’t be ridiculed in the MSM. It still won’t sell to folks down home. They can spot a phony from the next county.
What about Joe Biden? Oh, he’ll be REEEEAL popular down home. Given his record as one of the most anti-gun legislators in history Obama’s handlers will probably keep Biden north of the border states.
That’s OK Joe. We still have that video of you questioning the mental health of a law abiding gun owner.

Joe Biden wants to be the judge over whether you or I should own a gun. The proud original author of the “assault weapons ban”, Biden has no problem with accusing people who cherish their right to keep and bear arms of being mentally incompetent.
Sorry Joe, that’s what courts are for. I realize that liberals like
you think that judges should legislate and legislators should judge. I
guess that I was wrong when I thought that I lived in the United States
of America.
The Humility of Joe Biden

People have speculated if were possible for Barack Obama to pick a running mate more arrogant than “The One”. He just may have accomplished that.
The Arrogance of Joe Biden
It’s also worthy to note that Biden claimed that America needs leaders. Given the complete lack of experience of “The One”, I can only guess that Biden doesn’t feel that we need leaders anymore.

… Can America afford Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Frank Kratovil?
Driving into the office this morning I heard an interview with House Speaker Nancy “Little Tommy” Pelosi. In her closing remarks she stated that she looked forward to the Democrats having a larger majority in January so that she could “end the war in Iraq and begin fixing the economy”.
As for ending the war in Iraq, that is a farce. There is little that Congress can do short of pulling funding. The Democrats simply don’t posses the stones for a move like that.
What concerns me most is her desire to “fix” the economy. History has shown us that government, while able to inflict great damage, can do little to “fix” an economy. The only forms of government action which have proven successful are those that simply undo past mistakes. Things like reducing spending, lowering taxes, reducing the regulatory burden on the nation’s citizens and employers.
Sure, we all know that Dems like Obama, Biden, and Pelosi all think that the FDR administrations was proof that massive deficit spending will cure all ills. Unfortunately, history has since taught us that it was World War II, and not the welfare state, which dragged the US out of the Great Depression. All of those juicy government programs simply provided temporary, and local, fixes to problems.
Consequently, what is expected to be mild to average recession in 2009 could turn into a severe downturn if Obama, Biden and Pelosi have their collective way. While it is certainly not a slam dunk that we’ll see an Obama-Biden ticket elected, should we risk putting an extra vote for socialism in Congress – like Frank Kratovil?
I know, Blue Dog Frank claims that he’s INDEPENDENT. Unfortunately, INDEPENDENT translates from the “Democrat Speak” into – “I may vote in the best interests of my district UNTIL Speaker Pelosi tells me otherwise.”

… according to Delaware Liberal.
The buzz is all over the liberal Virginia blogosphere that it won’t be Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine. Using similar logic, hours beforehand, Delaware Liberal infers that the man to sit at the right hand of the Messiah is Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE).
I hope they’re right. We saw how Biden caught on with the national populace during his previous national runs.

The federal district court in Philadelphia is coming to the rescue of Delaware’s federal court. Why? Senate Democrats refuse to act on President Bush’s judicial nominees, including his nomination of Delaware US Attorney Colm Connolly to the federal bench in Wilmington.
Given that Delaware is allotted only four (4) federal judges, the number of judges is currently down by 25%. This has placed Philadelphia, and possibly Southern New Jersey in the precarious position of having to supply judges to hear Delaware civil cases.
Have either Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) or Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE) done anything to alleviate the problem? Of course not! Why fix a problem when you can play politics.
