Joe Wilson, Hero?

Much has been made on talk radio and in the conservative media about Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) “being pushed under the bus” by his own leadership. This is hogwash in its worse form. Wilson certainly isn’t being pushed under the bus and he certainly isn’t a hero for speaking the truth.
Yes, Wilson spoke the truth when he yelled that President Barack Obama’s statement that illegal aliens wouldn’t be covered under ObamaCare was a “LIE”. It was then, is now. That is why Democrats have consistently refused to allow any type of status checking for their socialized medicine scheme.
Regardless, Wilson had no business shouting it out during Obama’s address. Worse than being rude, the man knows better. A native of Charleston and a graduate of Washington & Lee, Wilson was brought up to be a gentleman. He should have behaved as such. If he was a Yankee …
Unfortunately, Wilson is being rewarded for his poor behavior; having raised over $1 million in the 48 hours after his outburst. Of course, his opponent has raised $800,000 in roughly the same period.
Wilson has apologized. That should be the end of the matter. While he behaved badly, he didn’t assault anyone. However, liberals must always play the victim. Now they want to officially admonish Wilson for his outburst. This is not only equally wrong, it merely shows what hypocrites House Democrats are. Their own leadership (Pelosi and Hoyer) called those of us opposed to ObamaCare Un-American. Pelosi has even called us Nazis. But that’s OK. Sending thugs to attack ordinary citizens is OK too. Just don’t say anything bad about the messiah.
Just because Democrats act that way doesn’t mean that we should. Wilson is no hero, but the Democrats will make him one if they keep it up.

Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) is supposed to represent New York’s 29th district. A freshman Democrat, like my own Frank Kratovil (D-MD), Massa was elected from a moderate / conservative district west of Binghamton.
Want to know what he really thinks of the people who elected him? All you need to do is get him out of town and with a group of his own. At last week’s NutRoots convention, listen to what Massa had to say:
“I am in one of the most right wing Republican districts in the country.” (which really isn’t true)
MASSA: I will vote for the single payer bill.
PARTICIPANT: Even if it meant you were being voted out of office?
MASSA: I will vote adamantly against the interests of my district if I actually think what I am doing is going to be helpful.
(inaudible participants’ comments regarding the “interests” of the district statement from Mr. Massa)
Massa: I will vote against their opinion if I actually believe it will help them.
This is how liberals talk about their constituents when they’re not at home.

Earlier today I gave ShoreIndie a hard time for carrying Flip-Flop Frank Kratovil’s water on the PORKULUS votes. However, you’ve got to give the man credit when he’s right.
Voting against PORKULUS is a good thing. However, when someone like Rep. John Mica (R-FL) votes against it and then touts its joys to the folks back home …? One more reason why the GOP is in the minority.

Is there any wonder that the Republicans are back to being the minority party? When we have “spokesmen” like Sen. Lindsay Graham (?-SC) it’s little wonder that John McCain didn’t just lose – he went down in flames.
Watch the video embedded in Ben Smith’s Politico column.
Graham thinks we’ll need to nationalize banks. I’m still trying to figure out why Graham wasn’t one of the nominal Republicans who voted for PORKULUS.
On the flip side of hypocrisy in action – Chuck Schumer (D-NY) argues that we can’t nationalize banks because government can’t tell executives how to run their businesses. ??????? Schumer doesn’t seem to have much problem setting payroll policy for these companies.
What can you expect from a man who describes George W. Bush, the man who brought us larger government and more entitlements, as “a very conservative president”.

… Sure You Don’t Wayne.
Soon to be former Congressman Wayne Gilchrest has endorsed Frank Kratovil for Congress. We’re supposed to believe that he’s doing it for God and country. We’re supposed to believe that he’s not merely a SORE LOSER. Scratch the surface and you’ll find nothing but a group of slick Democrats using a bitter old man in a desperate attempt for political power. Yesterday’s Frankie-palooza tour and Gilchrest love fest was little more than a farce.
“This isn’t about politics, the Republican or Democratic party. It’s about the people of this district,” said Gilchrest, with Kratovil at his side before a crowd of more than two dozen Kratovil supporters outside the Government Office Building in Salisbury.
Gilchrest said the endorsement is not prompted by negative advertisements he faced in the fierce Republican primary in February. Instead, he is offering Kratovil his support, he said, because the Queen Anne’s County state’s attorney has the values of integrity and bipartisanship that will better serve Maryland’s 1st District.
Stop and think for a moment. Would we be hearing Gilchrest make these pronouncements about Kratovil IF Gilchrest had WON this year’s Republican primary? I don’t think so!

Democrats love to accuse GOP candidates of “playing the race card”. Sadly, a few of our candidates have – in the past. Unfortunately, it is usually the Dems that are on the race bandwagon – not Republicans.
DNC chair, and Obama surrogate, Howard Dean was at it again recently. According to Dean, the GOP is the “WHITE PARTY”. Sure. Who’s playing the race card now guys?
What if I called the Democrat party the “illegal alien party” or the “black party”? I would be guilty of the exact same hypocrisy as Dean. The only difference is that I would be attacked as a racist, bigot, sexist, homophone … fill in the blank.
Two wrongs don’t make a right – even in the double standard world of liberal politics.

We all know that Salisbury Councilwoman Louise Smith is a liar. Literally from the moment she was elected to her seat we have seen example after example of Smith telling members of the public one thing and doing another. From her promises of transparent government, to her pledge to make the city complete its audit on time, to giving her word to support Debbie Campbell for Council President, to her promises to place the taxpayers first, Smith has not only proven her willingness to prostitute herself and her office – she has chosen to do so at bargain basement prices.
In her Mike Dunn like zeal to attempt the silencing of a council minority who constantly draws attention to her incompetence we have again witnessed more examples of Smith’s hypocrisy. To add insult to injury, Smith compounded her sin by exhibiting complete disdain for the public.

… or How “Little Tommy” became madam of the nation’s biggest brothel.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is desperately hoping that allowing a few vulnerable Dems to publicly support opening up the outer shelf to drilling will yield a larger Democrat majority in the next Congress. She may get her wish, but it’s looking more doubtful by the day.
Pelosi seems to be hoping that a simple re-hash of the Democrat’s 2006 strategy will work – run Democrats that will run on conservative issues and then sell out their constituents in order to sit at the “cool kids table” in Congress. Things are a bit different in 2008, however. High fuel prices have risen to the top of the issues heap. The Democrat congress is no more highly regarded than the GOP congress was in 2006.
While it’s true that GOP leaders such as Denny Hastert, Tom DeLay, John Boehner and Roy Blunt whored us right into the minority. A group of insurgent conservatives are seizing the leadership roles as we move toward November. Hastert and DeLay are fortunately gone. We can only hope that Boehner and Blunt will be purged in January and replaced with people like Mike Pence, John Shadegg and Jeb Hensarling.
In the meantime, the Democrat leadership of Pelosi and Steny Hoyer aren’t even being very secretive about their plans to screw the American people: Read more

… as long as they don’t have to.
Bearing Drift notes that there is no wonder why Democrats aren’t for tax breaks. Nobody games the system better.
However, there is a new low – even for the Democrats.
While you and I are paying $4+ per gallon, members of the 2008 Democrat Convention Host Committee are running around Denver on gas pumped at the city’s own pumps. This means that there was no federal or state tax paid on the gas.
It’s funny how these same people ridicule Republicans like John McCain and Andy Harris for advocating a summer repeal of the gas tax, but don’t mind taking advantage of the same thing for themselves. Party of the people, right?

Before anyone falls off their chair, this is not a theological post. I’m just going to point out a few interesting items, courtesy of they folks at Q&O.
The Hypocrisy -
Remember the “speech” in Berlin. His campaign was telling the media the speech “is not for campaign purposes.” Yet, within 24 hours, the Obama campaign was email links to the video with a pitch for money.
Standard fair for your average politician, but I thought that Obama was bringing us a NEW politics.
The Rapture -
Bruce McQuain’s superb analysis of “the speech” provides some interesting side points that we should consider. Bruce quotes Der Spiegel -
… he (Obama) wants to lay claim to become the president of the world.
Given all of the Messiah references, and the absolute cult of personality that Obama has developed I started to think back to my Sunday school day. The last time I checked, the guy who fit that description wasn’t the Messiah, but the Anti-Christ.
Makes you wonder. Perhaps my idea of moving to Australia if Obama wins wouldn’t do much good.
