Will the Dobson Endorsement Affect Andy Harris’ Campaign?

You must first answer this question. Is the Harris campaign devoting adequate resources to getting the word out about Dr. Dobson’s endorsement to the folks that will be most receptive? If the answer is yes, this could be the one that puts Andy over the top.
Dr. James Dobson is an icon in the evangelical community. His honesty and devotion are beyond reproach. Sure, I haven’t agreed with Dr. Dobson on all of his political moves, but I’ve always been impressed by his ministry.
The affect of Dr. Dobson’s endorsement is not in his ability to convert people into becoming Harris supporters. He will, however, motivate many people who might not otherwise go to the polls to do so. If those people go to the polls, they’ll vote for Harris.
Andy Harris is the ONLY choice for socially conservative voters. While in my opinion there is no question that Harris is the fiscal conservative’s choice, others may differ. There has been a great deal of confusing, and misleading, advertisement from all three candidates as to each candidate’s stance on core fiscal issues as well on the hot button issue of immigration.
IF Super Tuesday is fairly decisive in the GOP Presidential race far fewer casual voters will be motivated to go to the polls on February 12th. Some may argue that if McCain locks up the nomination many social conservatives will stay home. The endorsements of people like Dobson and Phyllis Schlafly will motivate those folks to go to the polls while the casual, non-social conservative will stay home.

‘New York Times’ Endorses Clinton, McCain

Perpetuating the stereotype that Florida is a sunnier, kinder and gentler colony of the “Big Apple”, the New York Times has chosen to endorse Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for the nominations of their respective parties on the eve of the Florida primary. As usual, the opinions of America’s paper of liberal record are well written, clear, and persuasive to the casual reader. It is unfortunate that the assumptions upon which their logic is based have so few facts to back them up.
The Times’ endorsement of Sen. Clinton was to be expected. The last true ’70’s liberal in the race is the one that is most in tune with the views of the Times’ publishers and editorial board. The Times’ is quite adamant in their reasoning, which will also be used in their endorsement of the Democrat nominee in the general election: Read more

Michelle Malkin states that “heads explode” over the endorsement of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee by Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA). I’d venture to say that it’s just one more disappointment for the fans of Mitt.
I’m not a fan of Mike Huckabee, despite Chuck Norris’ endorsement. However, I’m a little disappointed by pundits who report to only be concerned about Conservatism moving forward, yet don’t hesitate to distort the record of those that they disagree with.
We need to remember that Huckabee was attacked on his fiscal record, but he was able to prove that it wasn’t has bad as people like Robert Novak claimed. We now have Ms. Malkin (who I am a fan of) proclaiming Huckabee as an “ethno-panderer”. Read more

Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!
President George W. Bush has endorsed the candidacy of incumbent Rep. Wayne Gilchrest (R-1) in Maryland’s February 12th primary. Such an endorsement is hardly unexpected given Bush’s record of endorsing liberal and moderate incumbents in primary races. Past Bush endorsements have included Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Sen. Lincoln Chafee (R-RI).
“I have supported President Bush in his effort to cut taxes and curb
illegal immigration, and I will continue to work with my Republican
colleagues to get back to a balanced budget. I am deeply honored to
have the continued faith and support of President Bush, and I
appreciate his help in this election,” Gilchrest said in the same news
statement.
Voters should remember that the Bush / Gilchrest efforts to “curb illegal immigration” amount to granting amnesty to over 20 million illegals presently in the US. The Bush / Gilchrest efforts to “back a balanced budget” led to the largest deficits in history while the GOP controlled both houses of Congress and the White House.
