Why Do Our Elected Representatives Support ACORN?

Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD)
Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD)
Rep. Frank Kratovil (D-MD)
What do these folks have in common? They’re Democrats. They’re left wingers. … and they all support ACORN.
While Barack Obama’s former employer is using YOUR tax dollars to assist child prostitution rings, YOUR representatives in Congress are doing all that they can to make sure that these criminals stay on the Federal Gravy Train.
Mikulski (see video), Cardin and Kratovil have all voted to keep YOUR tax dollars flowing to this merry band of mobsters. Why? Because ACORN helps to get them re-elected. It’s that simple.

Maryland Del. Jon Cardin (D-11), nephew of Sen. Ben Cadin (D-MD), thought that having the Baltimore PD help in proposing marriage might be a good idea. According to the Baltimore Sun:
“Officers boarded the boat, owned by a friend of Del. Jon S. Cardin, Aug. 7 in the Inner Harbor. As the helicopter Foxtrot hovered overhead, adding to the sense of tension, one report says officers pretended to search the vessel and even had the woman thinking she was about to be handcuffed before the delegate got on one knee and proposed.”
True to form, Democrat legislators are outraged:
Del. Curtis S. "Curt" Anderson, D-Baltimore and chairman of the city delegation to Annapolis, said he is appalled by the apparent indiscretion and angry that officers both in the air and on the water diverted from their primary mission of protecting citizens against crime.
"How in the world did he get something like that?" Anderson said of Cardin, also a Democrat. "If I wanted to do this myself, I wouldn’t have the first clue as to how to get that accomplished. This is totally astonishing that a state delegate, especially one from Baltimore County, could commandeer the forces of the Baltimore City Police Department like that. It’s a big waste of the city’s money if that actually happened."
Don’t expect anything to be done about it though. Behind closed doors his legislative colleagues are probably slapping him on the back. What are taxpayer dollars for, if not to be wasted? At least Jon’s Uncle Ben prefers wasting tax dollars on a much larger scale.
I’m sure young Del. Cardin has a bright political future. Perhaps when he and his betrothed have kids, he’ll use state helicopters to give rides at their birthday parties.

The incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association describes her country’s health care system as “sick”. Yet, Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress want the American public to adopt just such a system.
Dr. Anne Doig says patients are getting less than optimal care and she adds that physicians from across the country – who will gather in Saskatoon on Sunday for their annual meeting – recognize that changes must be made.
"We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize," Doing said in an interview with The Canadian Press.
"We know that there must be change," she said. "We’re all running flat out, we’re all just trying to stay ahead of the immediate day-to-day demands."
Current CMA president, Dr. Robert Ouellet, will make a presentation at the conference about his findings when he toured Europe in January, and met with health groups in several countries. Ouellet has said that “competition should be welcomed, not feared,” meaning private health insurance should have a role in the public health system.
With Canadian doctors now calling for private health insurance, how are Americans expected to accept a plan that is designed to lead us to a Canadian-style system? While Obama and the Democrat leadership are attempting to claim that they are not asking for a Canadian-style system, even many Democrat members of Congress (such as Sen. Ben Cardin) admit that is the goal.

Delaware Libertarian has an interesting post about one possible future for any ObamaCare legislation. Former Clinton Labor Secretary Basically, Delaware Libertarian proposes a repeat of Sen. Stephen Douglas’s (another Illinoisan) “Great Compromise of 1850). As Delaware Libertarian points out, we were in a civil war ten years later, partly because of this “Great Compromise”.Robert Reich proposes to break up ObamaCare legislation into small pieces to provide various members of Congress the political cover they need to vote for it.
Former Clinton Labor Secretary Bob Reich argues that the Obama administration needs to be more open AND more specific about their plan.
In theory, this could HAVE BEEN a political master stroke. However that is the problem with left wingers in general; they’re great at theory. The public simply wouldn’t fall for this now that the ObamaCare cat is out of the bag. Even if they had attempted to try this in the beginning, I doubt it would have succeeded.
Basically, the Obama left is stuck with arguing that “There isn’t a bill”. This is what we’ve heard from Rep. Frank Kratovil (D-MD), Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD), and other politicians around the country recently. Unfortunately for them, it won’t work.

You’re just “misinformed”. That’s right. Reading the proposed legislation, as many of you have done, won’t work. You’re obviously too stupid to understand what the bill means. You have to listen to what Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) says. You need to listen to Barack Obama.
Are groups and individuals on the right spreading wrong information about ObamaCare? Of course. Some are doing it deliberately, some inadvertently. Are those on the left doing it well? To quote Sarah Palin – YOU BETCHA!
A deliberately complex proposal, ObamaCare will dictate to insurance companies what they must cover. It will subsidize “insurance” from the government (which will drive many carriers out of business). HR 3200 would create a “Health Insurance Czar”. The proposed ObamaCare legislation will increase the tax burden on our most successful and productive citizens. It will add trillions of dollars to the national debt.

Well, at least he didn’t call us UN-AMERICAN. No, we’re just uninformed. That was the message Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) delivered on WICO this morning as he prepares to discuss health care again – this time at a by invitation event with only pre-submitted, hand-picked questions allowed.
Fortunately for listeners, WICO host Bill Reddish politely stood up for the average citizen. To listen to Cardin, all those opposed to ObamaCare are deliberately being fed “misinformation”. Of course, everything coming from the mouths of ObamaCare proponents is 100% accurate. Right Ben?
Don’t forget, Cardin will speak at Salisbury University at 10:30 AM. Let him know what you think.

Call to TRY and see YOUR Senator.
Like so many Democrat congressmen, Sen. Ben Cardin isn’t looking forward to explaining his pro-ObamaCare stance to constituents. That is why Cardin is making constituents make a reservation if they want to see him.
Want to ask a question? You have to submit it in writing; in advance.
Cardin will be at SU on August 13, from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM. Call 410-546-6001 to request a seat. If they won’t give you a seat, show up anyway. Many of your fellow citizens are planning on being there to give Cardin a piece of their mind whether Cardin let’s them in the building or not.

… Still Outnumbered by Ordinary Citizens Opposed to ObamaCare
Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) hosted a town hall meeting in Towson last night. Hoping to avoid the embarrassment of being pressed by ObamaCare opponents in bluest of blue Maryland, Cardin though he had an ace in the hole. Cardin had the labor unions. Cardin had ACORN.
Unfortunately for Cardin (but fortunately for Maryland), average citizens concerned more about their rights and their futures far outnumbered the left wing union activists and ACORN pay-per-protest mobsters.
After last night’s event, Cardin may have wished that he had held a “by reservation only” event with handpicked questions – like the one he’s holding in Salisbury.
