Americans for Prosperity – a non-partisan, grassroots organization promoting ideas of limited government and fiscal responsibility – announced a “healthcare summit” to be held Thursday, July 23rd at Salisbury University.  Panelists are to include Dr. Michael Gloth of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Marc Kilmer of the Maryland Public Policy Institute.

Providing citizens an opportunity to ask questions and express their opinion, the summit will address issues not being addressed in the mainstream media.  These include the truth about President Obama’s “public option” and its probable impact on individuals’ healthcare and pocketbook.  There will also be discussion of the President’s proposal on taxes and small business – the nation’s primary job creation engine.

On January 5, 2009 Americans for Tax Reform will host a debate among the candidates for RNC Chairman.  The debate will be at 1PM from the National Press Club.  I would expect that C-SPAN will cover the debate (either live or delayed).  I also would expect that it can be watched on the web.

It’s no secret that the left have learned how to win, have been winning, and will continue to do so unless properly challenged. I saw first hand why this happening at it’s starting point, college campuses. The largest farm system for political engagement.

All over college campuses the tradition has been between College Republicans up against the College Democrats. Now single issue groups and specific philosophical groups, such as libertarian groups, have been popping up on both sides of the aisle.  Obama clearly won this year, but by how much and how big?

Team Obama wiped the right on campuses this year. Why? The left took the initiative to win.  Students for Obama groups popped up everywhere simply to fight for and elect Barack Obama. They advertised, signed up voters, held events, organized and involved

While Frank Kratovil is mailing GOP, moderate Democrat and independent households telling them that he”s “Independent” and a “Tough Prosecutor”, this is what’s being distributed to heavily Democrat, primarily African-American neighborhoods on the Lower Shore:

Frank Kratovil has signed up for TEAM OBAMA! Was there ever any doubt?

Kratovil has publicly endorsed Obama’s “tax plan” which isn’t tax cuts as much as it is taking from those that pay taxes and redistributing it to those that don’t.

Kratovil promises “Universal Health Care” – a nice euphemism for health care rationing and a government takeover of another 13+% of the nations GDP.

Kratovil promises to end “Big Oil’s Free Ride” – another leftist euphemism for confiscating the profits of corporations which employ hundreds of thousands of Americans.  If you thought $4.00 / gallon gas was tough, wait until it rises from its current, relatively low levels to $6, or $8, per gallon.

I have to give Frank and his masters at the DCCC credit.  While he’s been telling the majority of us that he’s a “Tough Prosecutor” – while taking money from the attorney of a child molester who is now free to attack our children again – Kratovil is finally starting to tell the truth (if only to a portion of voters).

Soon to be former Rep. Wayne Gilchrest has finally come out of the closet.  He’s not only a liberal, he’s a liberal Democrat.  This is something that many of us have known for some time.  With Gilchrest’s endorsement of Barack Obama, it’s official!

We know that Gilchrest’s liberal apologists will continue to defend him.  That’s fine.  As we have noted before, Gilchrest lacks the personal integrity to continue service.  Fortunately for him, honor is not prerequisite for a nice Congressional pension.

There is no malice on our side.  After Andy Harris is elected to Congress we will bear no ill will to Gilchrest.  At least he is finally being honest about who he is.  As for his new friends, we hope that they will all come together for one more verse of “Kum By Ya”.

For all of you Kratovil supporters without Obama signs in their yards, shoot me an email.  If your local Democrats can’t get you one I’ll sure give it try.  I think that you should be as honest as your buddy Wayne has suddenly decided to be.

Salisbury City County President Louise Smith may be switching her voter registration.  Smith, personification of the “tell me I’m pretty” attitude, gets to take center stage tonight thanks to First District Democrats.

Because Mayor Barrie Tilghman will be out of town for the Obama Love Fest in Denver, Louise gets to stand before the cameras this evening and make presentations and award certificates.  Fortunately, there isn’t much on tonight’s agenda.  Smith will probably be spending today in the day spa.

Delaware Sen. Charles Copeland, the GOP candidate for Lt. Governor, was asked what his stance was on drilling off of Delaware’s coast. His response?

He would not “take it off the table”.

He wasn’t asked if he supported genocide, or clubbing baby seals. He as asked if he would support offshore drilling. In an era of $4 a gallon gasoline,Copeland made a pretty responsible statement. Personally, I think he should have made a flat endorsement, but we’re talking Delaware here.

Rep. Mike Castle, hardly a fire breathing foe of the environment, made a similar comment. Again, he made a responsible (if squishy) statement.

Responsible unless you’re a hard core enviro-lefty, like Matt Denn. According to Denn:

We should not only take the idea off the table, we should throw it out of the house and lock the doors.

I suppose that the Delaware taxpayers pay to fill up Denn’s gas tank. Or perhaps he bikes from campaign stop to campaign stop?

Former Sen. Fred Thompson has withdrawn as a candidate for President. “Today, I have withdrawn my candidacy for president of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort,” the former Tennessee senator said in a brief statement.

While Thompson has not stated who he will support for the nomination, he was a supporter of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) in 2000.
