Delmarva Power Do you want to pay more for your electricity?  Probably not.  Unfortunately, that could be in the cards unless you speak out!

On Tuesday, November 10th there will be a public hearing of the Maryland Public Service Commission at Salisbury University.  The hearing will be at 7:00 PM in the Nanticoke Room (Room 236) of the Guerrieri Center.

Maryland Del. Mike Smigiel (R-36) One hearing has already been held in Salisbury.  However, Delmarva Power advertised the hearing (and several others on the Shore) in a less than honest manner.  (No mention was made of a rate increase).  Fortunately (for rate payers) Del. Mike Smigiel (R-36) called Delmarva Power on their little game and the PSC has called for a new round of hearings.

I know that Tuesday will be a tough day.  There is a WCBOE meeting (that has been moved to the afternoon so folks from the school board can go to the County Council hearing on Tuesday night and tell us that they don’t waste a dime, but “it’s for the children” anyway).  At the same time Tuesday evening the Wicomico County council is holding a hearing on the disastrous Rick Pollitt budget proposal.

Try to hit both Tuesday night meetings.  Go to SU first and register your opposition to higher electrical rates and then head over to the Civic Center.  There will be plenty of county and BOE employees trying to argue their case at that one.

Tony Snow, RIP

Former White House Press Secretary Tony Snow has passed away at the age of 53. Snow passed away after a long, well publicized, and optimistic battle with colon cancer – the same disease that claimed his mother when he was a teenager. Tony Snow was a great writer, commentator, and servant of both his country and the conservative movement.

I first met Snow when he was the editorial page editor of the Daily Press in Newport News, Virginia. While his previous writing showed his conservatism, he would often frustrate us by not allowing his personal philosophy to dictate the op-ed policies of his paper. We learned to respect Snow for refusing to do the same thing that we accused the liberal media of doing.

I am sure that those who knew Tony well will miss him greatly. Our prayers go out to his family.

Ronald Reagan’s Birthday

Today is the 96th birthday of Ronald Reagan, the greatest President of my lifetime and one of the greatest Presidents in the history of our great Republic. Without President Reagan, government would dominate our lives today. Without President Reagan, billions would continue to live under the tyranny of communist totalitarianism.  Without President Reagan, the modern conservative movement which began under Sen. Barry Goldwater would never have reached its zenith in 1995 under Speaker Newt Gingrich.

We need more men and women of President Reagan’s character and intellect and far fewer of those who are merely false disciples.

Interrupted Again!

We again apologize for being MIA Tuesday and early Wednesday. Contrary to our initial info, we were not hacked. A drive failed on one of our servers. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does it causes havoc. In hindsight, our problems last week with the DNS server going down were probably a pre-cursor to this drive failure. Hopefully we’ll learn from this and investigate further after a major hiccup like we had last week.

I wanted to apologize to our readers for the slowness in moderating comments Wednesday.  I was in New Jersey on business until late.  I will be out of town Thursday as well.

Please, never hesitate to leave your comments.  If I am out of town, I will have them posted as soon as I have access to the internet.  If the site is up, your comments should have been received and are waiting for moderation.  We don’t edit your comments, but we have to guard against someone leaving a too frank opinion of Mayor Tilghman or Mike Dunn.
