Beau Biden and a Chaotic Delaware AG’s Office

Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden is considered by many to be the front runner to take the Senate seat once held by his father, Vice President Joe Biden.  Or I should say that HE WAS, until news started leaking out regarding the hapless state of the Delaware AG’s office.

Thrown out evidence, botched prosecutions, these are just a few of the problems facing Biden upon his return from National Guard duty in Iraq.  While serving his country is to be commended, the people Biden left in charge don’t appear to have been up to the task.  What does this say about Biden’s managerial skill and leadership?

While friends argue that he shouldn’t be held responsible for what went on while he was away, former Delaware Sen. Charlie Copeland is on target:

"Having been an absentee owner of the Attorney General’s Office for the last year, it is in a more chaotic state …," said Charlie Copeland, a former Republican state senator who ran unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor last year. "Whether he is to blame for that or not, it is immaterial. You’re just going to have to deal with that."

While Biden takes trips to New York for appearances on the morning shows, should Delawareans believe that he is serious about being AG;  or was he simply using the office – and the voters – as a stepping stone?
