This Is What Barack Obama Has In Store for You

Whenever it is stated that ObamaCare is the road to socialized medicine, the left cries foul. Why? They realize that if Americans learned the truth about their plans for American health care (as well as our economy and our government), that would be the end of their return to power.
Fortunately, statists can’t help but brag when they are amongst themselves. Rep. Diane Watson (D-CA), a true Obama acolyte, just LOVES the Cuban health care system. That’s her vision for America.
While her more intelligent cohorts will deny that this is their plan for America, it is becoming increasingly clear that a true People’s Republic is what they wish for – nationalized corporations, socialized medicine, destruction of property rights, …
Besides her love of the Cuban system, Watson provides another hint as to the left’s desire to walk the statist / fascist path. According to Watson, if Obama fails, America fails. No Ms. Watson. America will survive. America will flourish because our nation is far greater than one individual. Our system of government is based on liberty. Only in nations such as Communist Cuba, Fascist Italy, Nazi Germany, and Soviet Russia were governments based on a cult of personality and that bizarre amalgam of nationalism, socialism, and populism that yielded the totalitarianism which Watson and her ilk seem to long for.
Perhaps that is why Watson loved the fellow travelling (if not traitorous) Ted Kennedy so much.

Some districts have already begun. Others start on Monday or Tuesday. Some more will begin after Labor Day. What am I talking about? School, of course.
If you are a homeowner, this is where the lion’s share of property taxes go. If you’re a renter, a high percentage of your rent goes there as well. If you live in a state like Delaware, Pennsylvania, or Texas, at least you know exactly what your tax bill is for the local school district. Regardless, the government is spending far more per child to educate our children than comparable private schools are.
With a national median tuition of $6,200 private schools could teach their state run counterparts a thing or two about saving money. This is one reason why the public school fasciti are so vehemently opposed to school choice.
Make no mistake, public education dollars aren’t “for the children”. At times it seems that “the children” are just a necessary evil. In my own little patch of Wicomico County, we see that our local board of education is more concerned about increasing teacher pay and pension benefits than attempting to provide a top-notch education. Sub-standard teachers and administrators are protected while those that excel are not rewarded for their efforts. Board members and employees take junkets on the taxpayers’ dime.
As school begins, it is again time to question our elected officials as to how our money is being being spent on behalf of “the children”. We also need to push our legislators to adopt more options of school choice.

Obama To Receive Power Over Internet

Don’t count on your First Amendment rights to save us; not if S773 passes Congress. According to the most recent draft of the bill, the President need only declare a “cyber-emergency” to seize control of vaguely defined “non-governmental networks”. In addition, certain private networks will be required to be managed by federally licensed “cyber-security professionals”. And since this is the Obama administration, I’m sure we’ll have some sort of “Internet Czar” wholly unaccountable to our elected representatives.
To be fair to President Obama, I don’t care whether he’s in the White House or not. This type of legislation is a threat to the liberty of all Americans who use the internet. Ironically, many of the same politicians who voted for the Patriot Act, and then later decried President George W. Bush’s use of it, are lining up to support this measure. I’m reminded of when Woodrow Wilson was president and the postal service was used to censor media. If you think that it can’t happen here, remember that it already has.

Rep. Mike Castle (R-DE) held a town hall meeting on health care. Delaware Liberal was there to LiveBlog the event. They did a pretty good job.
It’s interesting that the Democrats seem so worried about the “slow down” approach being articulated by Blue Dog Dems and moderate / liberal Republicans like Castle. Their only hope of getting a bill passed lies with people like Castle and self-identified Blue Dog Rep. Frank Kratovil (D-MD).
Dems want a few GOP votes for political cover. It’s guys like Castle that provide their best chance. They need votes like Kratovil too. He realizes that voting for the left wing dream means a one term Congressional career.

Virginia Sen. Creigh Deeds (D-Bath) admits that he introduced more budget amendments (earmarks) than any other member of the General Assembly during the last budget session. Virginia’s lefty blogosphere believes that’s a good thing and has criticized the Republican Governor’s Association (RGA) for running this ad:
Not Larry Sabato and Fred2Blue think that Deeds should be commended for being so fiscally irresponsible. After all, Deeds proposed over $400 million for public school teachers; and we all know that higher spending equates to better public education. Just look at Washington, DC.
What’s not to love? Given that Virginia is in a fiscal crisis, Deeds should be commended for pandering to a core Democrat special interest. Right?

Does leadership require original thought? If so, it would appear that Virginia Sen. Creigh Deeds is wholly unqualified to become Virginia’s next governor.
Again, Deeds has followed GOP nominee Bob McDonnell’s lead in the policy arena. This time Deeds has agreed to take a pay cut if elected governor. Fortunately for Virginians, McDonnell has already proposed the cut. If not, we’d still be waiting.

I know this post isn’t going to be popular with some of my Republican friends, but I believe it to be true regardless. We face an excellent opportunity to attack Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, and the Democrat majority in Annapolis. However, if we fail to offer solutions to the very problems we are pointing out about the O’Malley administration we stand to gain nothing.
While I commend the Maryland Senate’s GOP caucus’s efforts to point out the horrendous job of O’Guvnah and Co., they are woefully short on solutions. Yes, the state should grant localities more flexibility in their K-12 spending. What else? The caucus isn’t even bold enough to endorse that. They merely report that this is something counties have asked for and O’Malley has refused to deliver.

It’s ironic that Democrats believe that foreign terrorists should receive all of the rights and consideration of a US citizen while many of these same people don’t blink at the mistreatment of US citizens housed in our correctional facilities. No, I’m not soft on crime. I don’t even think these people deserve to have TV and other recreational activities I also don’t believe that they should be abused by the very same people charged with guarding them.
The Caesar Rodney Institute has just released a new report, Rogue Force, outlining more abuses at Delaware’s own little version of Attica circa 1971. Abuses at the Sussex Correctional Institution are well documented. They are currently under a federal consent decree to straighten out their act. Evidently they aren’t doing too well at accomplishing that goal.
Who’s been in charge of the Delaware prison system for almost 20 years? Democrat administrations. But wait! I thought it was us evil Republicans who were brutal, fascist thugs. Isn’t that why the Obama administration wants to give all of these rights to terrorists?
