Environmentalism Is About … Early Voting?

Del. Mike Smigiel (R-36) has become quite the blogger. Not only does he manage to inform his constituents, he informs and entertains people like me – at the opposite end of the Eastern Shore. His latest post manages to show the tree hugging left for what it really is – a bunch of partisan hacks more concerned about promoting a socialist agenda than in being good stewards of the world God gave us. Smigiel has decided to take on that friend of the tree, Wayne Gilchrist, and Frank Kratovil – the Maryland League of Conservation Voters.
In rating Maryland legislators in 2009, what bills did the MLCV choose? How about SB 478 – which permits “early voting”. This bill, better known as “Vote Early, Vote Often” will allow individuals to vote ANYWHERE in Maryland, not just in their own county.
Smigiel poses the question whether groups like the MLCV are truly concerned about the environment or simply concerned in growing the Democrat party stranglehold over Maryland government. Obviously the question is rhetorical.

What issues do you have with early voting?
My issues with “early voting” are many, but I’ll get to that.
The point was that the MLCV used the early voting bill to rate members of the legislature (not once, but twice). MLCV claims to be a non-partisan environmental organization. What does early voting have to do with the environment? Nothing. The MLCV is a partisan organization supporting (almost exclusively) liberal Democrats.
As for “early voting” itself, I contend that it is simply another avenue for voter fraud on behalf of the Maryland Democrat party. You can vote in any county, regardless of your residency. There is no ID requirement. The opportunities to cast ballots on behalf of the unknowing and deceased are near endless.
Now, if your party would enact a strong ID requirement in order to vote (as almost every board of elections in Maryland has asked), my objections would be less strident. However, we all know that it is difficult for illegal aliens and dead folk to vote if they have to show ID.
Smigiel is very entertaining, I agree. But you didn’t mention that the real reason Smigiel is angry with this group is that they gave him a low rating. He had no problems sucking up to the “tree huggers” when they gave him a better rating in the past.
First, I don’t know (any more than you do) that Mike Smigiel is either mad at MLCV or (if he is) it’s because of a low rating. Second, and more importantly, that wasn’t the point of the post.
Groups like MLCV are simply shills for the left and Democrat party. Again I ask – What does “early voting” have to do with protecting the environment?
