Jim Ireton, Photo Opps, and Jonathan Taylor

“There’s a statistical theory that if you gave a million monkeys typewriters and set them to work, they’d eventually come up with the complete works of Shakespeare. Thanks to the Internet, we now know this isn’t true.” – Ian Hart
It was, however, almost inevitable that Jonathan Taylor would eventually write something that was semi-literate AND that most reasonable individuals (at least those in Salisbury and its environs) would agree with.
Taylor argues that Salisbury mayor Jim Ireton is wasting taxpayer money by requiring department heads to attend press conferences. IF Ireton is requiring the presence of these department heads, I agree wholeheartedly. The only reason I say IF is because I don’t know that he is; but, like Taylor, I suspect it.
Ironically, Taylor seems to only take umbrage with city department heads taking part in events supporting entities which he doesn’t like, such as Urban Salisbury. He certainly didn’t express any problem with almost all of the third floor city payroll showing up to the police station on Thursday. That’s OK, because SPD chief Allan Webster is Taylor’s hero.

Albero Target of Another Frivolous Lawsuit

SbyNEWS publisher Joe Albero is, yet again, the target of a frivolous lawsuit brought by a supposed public servant. Douglas Devenyns, director of the Wicomico County Detention Center, has filed a $150,000 lawsuit against Albero claiming defamation.
In one sense it’s “HERE WE GO AGAIN!” Albero has already been a target of suits brought by Salisbury police chief Allan Webster and former mayor Barrie Parsons Tilghman. The suit brought by Webster was settled on non-monetary terms. A judge found in favor of Albero in Tilghman’s suit.
In his suit Devenyns claims that Albero is liable for an anonymous comment posted on his web site. According to Devenyns’ attorney:
Sphere: Related ContentKevin Karpinski, a Baltimore attorney representing Devenyns, wrote in the complaint that Albero is liable for the comment, even if he didn’t write it. That’s because Karpinski charges Albero determines which of the comments submitted by his readers he will publish and whether he will edit them first. Albero erred because he either knew — or should have known — the comment was false, Karpinski contends.
The Only Good Think Tank is a Liberal Think Tank

That seems to be the argument from our good friends over at DelawareLiberal.net. Their recent rant against the Caesar Rodney Institute is amusingly absurd.
“Non-partisan” means that they don’t take PARTISAN (you know, Democrat or Republican) stances. However, it’s a bit of a hint that they might be right of center when they profess to promote FREE MARKETS, LIMITED GOVERNMENT, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, and THE RULE OF LAW.
I can only guess that in the land of the Delaware Liberal you’re only “legitimate” if you promote SOCIALISM, SOFT TYRANNY, THE NANNY STATE, and JUDICIAL ACTIVISM.

I wouldn’t think so. I probably wouldn’t vote for him if I lived in Delaware, but there’s certainly no evidence that he’s crooked. However, that’s the implication from the good folks over at DelawareLiberal.net.
Carper receives campaign money from the insurance industry and pharma. Carper doesn’t support the socialist plan being proposed by the radical left. Therefore, he must be on the take?
It’s interesting that no one on the left cried foul as their Messiah destroyed the public financing system for presidential campaigns. Of course, Barack Obama IS the Messiah.

Former Rep. Virgil Goode will not seek to regain the seat he lost last year by a scant 727 votes. Among those mentioned as potential GOP challengers to freshman Rep. Tom Perriello (R-5) are Virginia Sen. Robert Hurt of Pittsylvania County and Del. Robert B. Bell of Albemarle.

Before the hate mail starts, let me start off by stating that I am not comparing Williamsburg to Salisbury, MD. It’s just that I came across today’s piece in the Daily Press about problems with Billy Mary students living in single family neighborhoods in Williamsburg and I simply couldn’t help myself.
I don’t want to minimize the concerns of Williamsburg residents, but the DP is right. Take a field trip to Morgantown, WV. Then swing around to Salisbury, MD on a typical Saturday night. I have a sneaking suspicion that you would be counting your blessings.
Ditto for the folks in Salisbury. Drive over to Morgantown and spend a Saturday night there during football season (and when it’s a home game). Most of the horror tales about SU will pale in comparison. You might even start thinking of SU students as angels.

I am confident that the founding fathers of the First State are rolling in their graves. There was a reason that our founders devised the Electoral College rather than simply electing our president using the popular vote.
Evidently, the Delaware House of Representatives disagrees with the Electoral College system. Fair enough. They have a right to their opinion. Unfortunately, they have chosen to ignore it by passing legislation that will now assign Delaware’s electors based on who wins the NATIONAL popular vote.
If Delaware thought it was ignored before, wait until this legislation becomes law.

It took place right in front of the Salisbury / Wicomico GOB. It involved the Tilghman Times’ favorite congressman. Why, then, don’t we see any coverage of yesterday’s protest in front of “Blue Dog” Frank Kratovil’s Salisbury office?
Publishing an occasional letter to the editor in opposition to Kratovil’s left wing votes against the best interest of Maryland’s First District just doesn’t equate with unbiased coverage.

That is the message from Rep. John Conyers (D-MI). Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Conyers admits that there’s no point in actually reading proposed legislation before it’s voted on.
Perhaps the Democrat leadership in Congress could consider drafting legislation that was simpler? Wait! Members might actually start reading legislation. Then they couldn’t get any of their left wing agenda passed in either house, even with Frank Kratovil’s reliable vote.

Del. Mike Smigiel (R-36) has a great review of Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley’s new “Online Suggestion Box”:
When I first heard about this, I thought, What a great idea! Unfortunately, like most things in government, the devil is in the details.
Mike is, again, right on about this issue. IF O’Malley were serious, rather than just pandering to an electorate that will judge him in just over a year, he would allow the public to see the suggestions of their fellow citizens. IF O’Malley were 1/10 of the chief executive he claims to be, he would know that many great ideas come from hearing and seeing the ideas of others.
Of course, O’Malley is PANDERING and he sure isn’t the executive he claims to be. Marylanders are paying the tax increases that prove it.
