The Hypocrisy of the Barrie Comegys Clique

In a vain attempt to “kill the messenger” and deflect attention from their own actions, various acolytes of the campaign to keep the Barrie Comegys train running OVER Salisbury are telling blatant lies AND showing the worst hypocrisy imaginable. This morning’s op-ed from our local King of the Slumlords, Richard Insley, is just the latest example.
The premise of Insley’s argument is fallacious to its core. Insley takes another stab a presenting his political views using the notion that “those dirty rotten bloggers” have been claiming that he has leveled personal attacks against his political opponents – namely Councilwoman Debbie Campbell and mayoral candidates Bob Caldwell and Jim Ireton. After a search of local blogs I cannot find where such a statement was made. It certainly hasn’t occurred here on Delmarva Dealings.
On Monday, we used a Daily Times article on Insley’s letter to his tenants to illustrate that the paper printed false information. We did not claim that Insley was personally attacking anyone.
As we pointed out then, Insley appears to have no problem with knowingly making false statements. Today’s op-ed shows that Insley, and the political forces he supports, have no problem with hypocrisy either.
Many may argue with the style of someone like my friend Joe Albero and his Salisbury News. I often do as well. However, I’ve had a hard time finding anyone presenting evidence that statements of fact made on Salisbury News are false. This can’t be said of the recent hate spewing coming from the unofficial blog of the campaign to elect Gary Comegys, Muir Boda, and Shanie Shields (* – see note below). Yet, the Barrie Comegys clique enjoys making use of this site; one which has told almost every lie imaginable.
Here is one example:
Debbie Campbell’s support of 4-2 has made the city become spread out all over with renters the thing she was trying so desperately to get rid of. I would watch yourself Joey when you go attacking SAPOA they have way more money that you do and are looking out for the renters in this city unlike you and Ms Campbell. What say you Joey or does Donna have to speak for you now?..The College has had it with Ms Campbell and her opposition to the students renting in her neighborhood .. remember she didn’t even want a Church to have a bible study in Camden. Your done Deborah and you know it..
While we’ll be discussing this again Monday, it should be pointed out that simply making a statement does not equate to truth. Where is the EVIDENCE that Campbell has tried to “run renters out of her neighborhood”? Where is the EVIDENCE that Campbell attempted to stop Bethany Lutheran Church from conducting a bible study in a house they owned? There is none. In the case of the Bethany Lutheran case, no one complained about a bible study. Some neighbors complained about holding band practice (that was reportedly quite loud) in the house.
I actually disagree with Mrs. Campbell on this issue. However, she has been quite consistent on the issue of enforcing zoning regs. If Campbell had done other than what she did, I have a sneaking suspicion that her detractors would be screaming hypocrisy on her part.
What we are witnessing is a little game being played by the Daily Times, the Barrie Comegys clique and their pal in the blogosphere. It basically started with Dawn Tilghman and Burnett-White Tire. Ms. Tilghman, a member of the clique, used the paper to “play victim”. Insley is simply doing a repeat performance in today’s op-ed.
C’mon guys, MAN UP! Try telling the truth, at least occasionally. Quit being such hypocrites. And please, quit using made up stories ABOUT A CHURCH to promote your political agenda.

* – while it is our policy to link to sources whenever possible, we received a specific request not to link to the unofficial site for the campaign to elect Gary Comegys, Muir Boda and Shanie Shields because its author makes a habit of running photos of and leveling personal attacks on the family members of some of the people he disagrees with.
