Frank Kratovil Opens First District Office … on the Western Shore

Remember Frank Kratovil telling us that he was “from the Shore”? Remember?
Well, your new Congressman has opened up his first District office. Is it in Worcester County? Wicomico? Talbot? Queen Anne’s? No. How about any of the nine counties that make up the Eastern Shore? No.
Rep. Kratovil has decided to make Harford County his priority. The boy from Montgomery County who grew up in PG but dared to tell you that he was “from the Shore” has shown where his priorities are.
Why not? Kratovil thinks that you’re a bunch of hicks anyway. You elected him once and you’ll elect him again. But Frank is no dummy. He knows that he needs to kowtow to that growing population on the Western Shore if he wants to stay on Capitol Hill.
That’s why a Centreville office has no phones or equipment; paying buddies with your tax dollars even though they can’t do any work. That’s also why you might see a Salisbury office in February. Frank Kratovil takes care of his own … and they ain’t from the Eastern Shore.
If you think I’m mistaken, do what I did – call his DC office at (202) 225-5311. They’ll give you a whole song and dance about why.

Kratovils House website (Kratovil.house.gov) lists his district office as a turpins lane address in centreville md. I called the number you provided and they told me that the bel air address was gilchrests old district office and was mistakenly listed on kratovils website by the house IT people. She also said that the centreville office will be up and running next week, not Feb. She also said that if I had a pressing local concern that she would get me in contact with the constituent services folks that will be working out of the centreville office once it’s up and running.
So maybe you jumped the gun a bit because when I called, none of your concerns were still valid. Did you really think he was NOT going to open the district office in qa county? Were you following the election?
I know for a fact that Frank is seeking a qualified person to run his local office. Give him a little time. We will definitely have connections to him.
You are right. Let’s not cut him any slack. Obviously the most important thing is to have all offices up and running asap. I mean who can folks complain to when the offices aren’t up and running immediately? I would rather he get it right then rush for appearance’s sake. I’ll wait. More important to me is how he stays in touch with us hicks on the Eastern Shore and how efficient the office is here, and that means finding just the right person to run it.
You just don’t get it.
I don’t think Kratovil is ever going to, or ever had plans to use the Bel Air office. That was Congressman Gilchrest’s old DO. It was mistakenly listed as Kratovil’s DO. It is not, and never will be up and running for Frank. His DO will be in his home county of Centreville just like every other Congressman (home county, that is).
As for ‘paying his buddies’ to do work they can not do, you are simply mistaken again, and are trying to stir up trouble where there is none.
As I said before, if you call his DC office they will provide you the contact information for the constituent services staff that will be working out of the DO. I called to complain about the Cecil County SPCA and was given the contact information for Karen Willis, the Constituent Services Director.
Anyone is free to have political leanings in whatever direction they choose. But seriously, you could at least try to see the world without blinders on. Frank seems like a good man, stop trying to find something wrong with EVERYTHING. I am sure there will be a moment when you have a real problem with him, and it will be diluted by your ‘boy who cried wolf’ mentality.
Good luck and God Bless.
What don’t you understand about: the IT people mistakenly listed Gilchrest’s old DO as Kratovil’s? Kratovil isn’t using that office, so he never opened anything anywhere on the western shore, unless you count DC.
When the post was written, the Centreville office was NOT listed on Kratovil’s website. If you read the post you will note that I stated that there was a Centreville office. It just doesn’t have little things like phone lines and office equipment. This is why I wondered why there are staff on the payroll who can’t do any work. As someone who has set up District offices for two Congressmen trust me when I tell you that you need little things like phones.
The Salisbury office is what is due to be opened in February. If Kratovil could use Gilchrest’s Bel Air office, he could have done the same for Salisbury. Regardless, there is no excuse for not having his District offices up and running during the same week the session opened.
I’m sure Frank will think of one though.
Wow, I thought you were wacko before, but clearly I gave you too much credit. How can one open a “Congressional” office before one is a Congressman? Frank had no congressional budget with which to open an office before January 5. If he opened them sooner you would be the first to cry foul, look how he is spending money? Clearly anything you post with the name Kratovil in it is all BS because you are such a sore loser you cant think straight.
I don’t question that. I’m merely pointing out that:
1. He should have had ALL three of his offices up and running this week, not just the one on the Western Shore.
2. I think it’s ironic that the man who claims to be “one of us” opened his office on the Western Shore first.
I’m just wondering, why are you spending your time reading content from someone you claim to be a “wacko”? Does this say something about you?
I have little patience with people who are:
a. obviously incapable of grasping the English language at even a high school level.
b. people who attempt to argue, yet have no critical thinking skills nor even a touch of common sense logic.
I never claimed that Kratovil should have had his offices up and running BEFORE he was sworn in. For starters, it’s illegal.I stated that ALL of his offices should have been up and running this week. Kratovil, and every other Congressman that I can think of, is sworn in on the first Monday of the New Year (in odd numbered years).
You talk to the GSA. You figure out your options of where to put your offices. You tell the GSA. They handle your leases, furniture, equipment, utilities, etc. My experience has been that the Congressman gets sworn in on a Monday and you have your offices open by Wednesday or Thursday or that week. Turnover, even in a year like 1994, is seldom so great that you can’t get this done UNLESS, you drop the ball and wait until the last minute.
Sure, there are some transitional rough edges. You still have offices open and are serving your constituents.
You’re absolutely right. We should just let little Frankie do whatever he wants. Besides, it’s not like he’s wasting your tax dollars by having folks on the payroll who are doing nothing. Perhaps you should pray for him.
One more thing. Try using the threaded comments capability. It’s not rocket science.
Sure, I print what I’m told by Kratovil’s office and it’s my fault. Try again.
I was told that they were using Gilchrest’s Bel Air office. That’s not unusual. Some MC’s want new space, some roll over some or all of their predecessor’s space. Again, it’s up to the member and GSA handles the details.
I was also told that they had people at the Centreville office but it was “still under construction” and didn’t have phone lines, equipment, etc. I don’t care what they’re telling you now.
I also suppose you think that voting for Nancy Pelosi reflects “our values”. I know why he did it. I don’t blame him. However, I’m not the guy who ran claiming to be “independent” and swearing not to be beholding to Nancy Pelosi, et al.
See above. They should have said that it was a mistake. They didn’t.
I didn\’t realize that by voting for a Speaker of the House a Congressman or woman compleltely abdicates the platform they ran on in favor of Nancy Pelosi\’s. I guess the entire Republican House supports every single aspect of John Boehner\’s platform…or does this ridiculous logic only apply to Democrats that you don\’t like because they beat your boy?
Well, thank you dear. I didn’t realize how this works. However, I won’t be praying, but I am sure you know what an atheist is.
I know the dictionary definition. I just never understood how somebody could actually be one. Of course, you have your right.
It’s called leadership, George. I am no less disappointed in a Republican who supports a squish like Boehner than a Dem who claims to be moderate to conservative yet supports San Fran Nan.
Frank Kratovil’s “platform” is only what Pelosi allows him. If she needs his vote, he will deliver it blindly. She probably won’t need it on any gun control bills, so he won’t have to be proved a liar on that one. The same applies for a few other issues. We’ll just have to see.
