… For Talking Out of Both Sides of Mouth
Yesterday, we showed you the new TV commercial unveiled by Democrat congressional candidate Frank Kratovil. Today a few tidbits were brought to our attention that you may find interesting. Blue Dog Frank promises to:
- Cut Taxes – Just a few months ago, Frank Kratovil called cutting taxes “irresponsible”. At a debate in January Kratovil stated that “we should not even be talking about tax cuts”. After the primary, this tax-cutting man of the people said, “It’s wrong to talk with a straight face about tax cuts. It’s irresponsible“. (Star-Democrat, 01/21/2008 and Star-Democrat, 03/21/2008)
- Cut Wasteful Spending – In a radio interview Kratovil went on the record supporting earmarks. Earmarks are where a great deal of wasteful spending comes from. I wonder where Blue Dog Frank thinks we need a “Bridge to Nowhere”? (WYPR, 06/13/2008)
- End Our Dependence of Foreign Oil – In the same radio interview, Kratovil states that he is opposed to drilling on the outer continental shelf. To steal a Democrat line, “It’s the SUPPLY, stupid!” Without increasing our domestic supply, Americans will continue to face upward spiraling energy costs until we can adopt alternatives. No Frank, drilling won’t solve the problem – it will only help as part of a complete solution. Because you, along with Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama, don’t want to allow drilling our economy will suffer. That means that WE will suffer. Thanks Frank.
- Crack Down on Illegal Immigration – Last January Kratovil stated that he would have supported the “Amnesty” bill that was before Congress last year. Amnesty for 20 million illegals – that’s really “cracking down” on them Frank. (Star-Democrat, 01/13/2008)
We can all see that Frank Kratovil is a talented man. The people he aspires to emulate in Washington haven’t mastered double speak any better than Kratovil has.
While there is no doubt that the First District would suffer if enough folk were tricked into voting for Kratovil, there is also no doubt that Blue Dog Frank would fit right in with the likes of Nancy Pelosi. Frank is really showing off his PG County roots.

I agree 100% – ITS IRRESPONSIBLE.
So are YOU quoting only half the quote: Try the real quote.
“Its wrong to talk about tax cuts with a straight face. It’s irresponsible to pile up budget deficits and national debt: We can’t have it both ways”
You are ridiculous.
And your point is? Kratovil is claiming that he will cut taxes in his latest ad. This spring he said that it was irresponsible to cut taxes. What’s the problem, other than the fact that Kratovil says one thing in the primary and another in the general?
Contrary to the belief of liberals like yourself, tax cuts DO NOT necessarily decrease government revenue. You probably think that raising taxes INCREASES government revenue.
Go ask you friend Martin O’Malley why cigarette tax and sales tax revenue are down. WAIT! That can’t happen because O’Malley (Kratovil’s buddy) RAISED TAXES.
With all due respect, you’re better off trying to assert knowledge of economics at your local Democrat Club, or my nephews’ first grade class.
They might buy it.
Kratovil never said it is irresponsible to cut taxes. He said it is irresponsible to pile up budget deficits and national debt.
Maybe you should stop making up stories and get a real life.
I have yet to read one factual statement in your article or your nasty, mean-spirited, insulting, “Andy” style response to a correction of your dumb error.
Yet, Kratovil still said that it was wrong to cut taxes. According to you, this is what Frank said:
“Its wrong to talk about tax cuts with a straight face. It’s irresponsible to pile up budget deficits and national debt: We can’t have it both ways”
First, he says that it’s wrong to cut taxes. Second, he infers that tax cuts are the cause for the deficit.
However, Kratovil now claims that he’s going to cut out taxes and cut wasteful spending. Since he’s a Democrat I can only assume that means military spending. That’s about the only type of spending that Dems don’t like.
If you thought that was nasty, too bad. You don’t know me well if you thought that was harsh.
Your argument folds like a house of cards. Instead of trying to tie me with Andy Harris, or anyone else, explain how it’s OK for Kratovil to say one thing one day and then buy TV time saying something totally opposite.
Dont worry, You have already convinced me to vote for Kratovil after reading the lies, misconceptions, and half truths you print, trying to smear his campaign. You insult people rather than engage in intelligent conversation and debate. You tell people what they think, call them names and label them, all the while, not having a clue. I dont want anyone representing me who is associated with someone of your hack skills. After reading more on your site, I am convinced you are a complete moron and therefore should not vote for anything you endorse. Go Frank Go, Obama too!
In true liberal form you are guilty of the same crime you accuse me of. What lies? What half truths? You attack Harris by accusing him of being associated with me. Yet, after your buddy Frank flip-flops on four core issues, you refuse to address the issues.
My so-called attack on you was pointing out you lack of knowledge in both rhetoric and economics. Your response – calling me a moron.
Please continue to comment. I love it when the opposition provides evidence for me.
It is true that you twist the truth Cato, I had responded to a post that you accussed Frank Kratovil of being in bed with special interests and then you proceeded to list Unions. Unions are not special interest groups, of Political Action groups like donate to Andy Harris’ Campaign. So you are being dishonest, and then when I list the actual special interests that have donated to Andy Harris’ campaign you folded and pulled the post, not because you were embarassed that you were wrong, but because you insist on perpetuating lies on various candidates and issues. Have you no sense of decency is a historical chestnut that rings very true here.
What post was pulled? I don’t embarrass easily, nor do I ever mind admit being wrong.
Do you guys work for Kratovil? You accuse me of wrongdoing but never put up any evidence.
It’s ironic that you falsely claim that a post was pulled. In fact, I am in the process of pulling a post now. That particular post is two years old and I am pulling it at the request of the subject of the post. Before the post comes down, it will be replaced with a current post stating that it was pulled and why. I don’t mind retracting or correcting posts if I am presented evidence that I (or another author was incorrect).
Unfortunately, your little “Shills for Kratovil” cell can’t present any evidence that I’m wrong. The very fact that you claim that Big Labor is not a special interest group is proof that your candidate and party are bankrupt of both ideas and character.
It feels like 1976 all over again.
Go to http://www.fec.gov and research who gave money to what candidates before you accuse people of being tied with special interests. Big Labor is not a special interest, it exists to protect the millions of middle class workers in various occupations from companies who would abuse them otherwise. That argument was lost in the 50’s so welcome to the twenty first century.
If you research Andy Harris’ name you will find that as far as organizations Shell oil, Exxon Mobile, Haliburton, Eagle Forum, Club for Growth etc are how he has funded his campaign in addition to individual donors many of which work for Lobbying firms or Billion Dollar plus Hedgefunds in NY. I won’t waste my time to list them because you can verify it yourself.
These are facts and the fact is that I had addressed this on a post initially posted by you that said Frank Kratovil was tied to Special interests and after looking for it to see if there were any replies it was gone. I simply connected the dots, and I’m just saying that you may not be lying but something smells like spin to me.
If you want to have a reasonable discussion on any of the issues concerning this particular race you will lose.
Frank Kratovil is better on the war –> He wants to end it.
Frank Kratovil is better on Social Security –> He wants to save it and not privatize unlike his opponent Harris.
Frank Kratovil is better on Immigration –> He has a long record as a State’s Attorney fighting illegal immigration on the front lines, which is why Harris never talks about it.
Frank Kratovil is better on the environment –> He believes in renewable energy and a modern solution to the energy crisis, while Harris has the 6th worse lifetime voting record on the environment out of 188 legislators in the Maryland Legislature.
Frank Kratovil is better on Health Care –> He wants to ensure it for everyone, Harris thinks the free market will take care of that which is what free market thinkers have said for 20 years, guess it doesn’t work.
Frank Kratovil is a better man. Andy Harris showed during the Primary that he would say or do anything to get elected and that included demeaning a sitting United States Congressman, the Honorable Wayne Gilchrest, and in doing so showed his true colors of extremism and irrational thinking.
Yes, Frank Kratovil is a better man IF you believe that left wingers like Pelosi and Obama offer a better vision for America. Listening you you I am reminded of the 1970’s all over again.
Frank Kratovil wants to end the war? Everybody wants to end the war. The only question is how. Conservatives want to win. Liberals like Mr. Reid and his pals want to appease those that would destroy our country.
Frank Kratovil is better on Social Security? How? Mr. Reid asserts that Andy Harris wants to privatize the system. I’ve never heard him make that statement. I want to privatize it, but I’m not aware that Harris has offered that solution. Kratovil’s solution is simply more of the same old liberal dogma. Spend more, we’ll tax you later.
Frank Kratovil is better on immigration? How? Does he support a fence? Does he support rounding up every illegal and sending them back? What specifically does Kratovil support? KRATOVIL SUPPORTED THE AMNESTY BILL! That’s his solution.
Kratovil is better on the environment? Of course he is IF you define “being good on the environment” as supporting spending and regulatory policies that harm our economy.
Kratovil is better on health care? Only if you think that socialized medicine is the answer.
Frank Kratovil is the better man? Only if you believe that believing in nothing and saying anything to get elected makes you a better person. Sorry, that’s what LIBERALS do believe.
