Delaware Sen. Charles Copeland, the GOP candidate for Lt. Governor, was asked what his stance was on drilling off of Delaware’s coast. His response?
He would not “take it off the table”.
He wasn’t asked if he supported genocide, or clubbing baby seals. He as asked if he would support offshore drilling. In an era of $4 a gallon gasoline,Copeland made a pretty responsible statement. Personally, I think he should have made a flat endorsement, but we’re talking Delaware here.
Rep. Mike Castle, hardly a fire breathing foe of the environment, made a similar comment. Again, he made a responsible (if squishy) statement.
Responsible unless you’re a hard core enviro-lefty, like Matt Denn. According to Denn:
We should not only take the idea off the table, we should throw it out of the house and lock the doors.
I suppose that the Delaware taxpayers pay to fill up Denn’s gas tank. Or perhaps he bikes from campaign stop to campaign stop?

why is drilling for oil of our coast a left vs. right issue?
oh and thanks for linking to us. We have a local politician on record calling out copeland. Please, by all means send as many people as you can to our site to show what a fraud Mr. Dupont Copeland is. More specifically a liar.
How can anyone support a clown and be taken seriously. Charlie Copelsnd is just that. Whether one chooses education, open government, jobs for Delaware, or any other topic, Charlie Copeland has been proven opportunistic by those on the right on each of these issues.
The only way Copeland can garner more than 10% is if he says nothing more for the rest of the campaign. Every time he opens his mouth, the digs himself a deeper hole.
Four out of five Right winged, Republican posters have called on Charlie Copeland to stop lying, and the fifth one, who used to be a good personal friend of Charley, is just barely lukewarm in his endorsement….
Today, only a lobbyist would support Charlie Copeland for any political office……
