Ted Stevens Indicted
Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) has been indicted by a federal grand jury. Steven, 84, the nation’s longest-serving GOP senator has been indicted on seven counts of falsely reporting hundreds of thousands of dollars in services he received from a company that helped renovate his home.
Unlike our Democrat brethren, we should not defend or protect the senior senator. While I wish no ill will on Stevens or anyone else, this is an opportunity to show the nation that we are better than those who protect the Jack Murthas and William Jeffersons of the world.
As noted in TNR, this seat is salvageable. Alaska could produce a banner year for the GOP simply by dumping Rep. Don Young and Stevens while retaining the seats.
We need more men like Stevens serving in Congress like we need more “Bridges to Nowhere”.
