Former White House Press Secretary Tony Snow has passed away at the age of 53. Snow passed away after a long, well publicized, and optimistic battle with colon cancer – the same disease that claimed his mother when he was a teenager. Tony Snow was a great writer, commentator, and servant of both his country and the conservative movement.

I first met Snow when he was the editorial page editor of the Daily Press in Newport News, Virginia. While his previous writing showed his conservatism, he would often frustrate us by not allowing his personal philosophy to dictate the op-ed policies of his paper. We learned to respect Snow for refusing to do the same thing that we accused the liberal media of doing.

I am sure that those who knew Tony well will miss him greatly. Our prayers go out to his family.
