… At the Pump
The environmental left is thrilled that we might be paying $6 or more at the gas pump before the end of the year. They actually believe that if gas gets expensive enough that we’ll start riding our bikes to work everyday. Oh, but to live in San Francisco!
These folks are dipping into your pocket in other ways. No offshore drilling. Fighting coal fired power plants (remember, the U.S. is the Saudi Arabia of coal). Even government grants to the same groups that are working against our nation’s economic growth and national security.
Tucked away in the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA) is a section that prohibits the government from purchasing certain alternative fuels. The radical enviros claim that these alternative fuels, such as jet fuel refined from coal, emit too many greenhouse gases.
Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), Rep. Mike Conaway (R-TX) and Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) have introduced legislation (HR 5656) to repeal this section from EISA. Of course the Democrats won’t let it see the light of day.
Call your Congressman today. Demand that they sign the discharge permission to allow a vote on HR 5656. Ask your congressional candidates what their stance is.
This bill would help to spur the development of a synthetic fuels industry in the U.S. I thought the Democrats were telling us that we need alternatives to oil?
