Barack Obama’s Stealth Socialism

As part of its editorial series – The Audacity of Socialism – IDB provides us with some of the meaning behind the words of the great Messiah. Whether it’s “ensuring economic justice”, “guaranteed health care”, “free college tuition”, or “universal national service” Obama’s plans sound soooo nice. They will also lead us, not down the road to serfdom, but straight to a Havana-style government and economy. As IBD so aptly terms it – this is Obama’s Stealth Socialism.
Obama’s plan to micro-engineer our government, our economy, and our lives would deliver us some bizarre, nightmarish hybrid of Hayek’s Road to Serfdom and Orwell’s 1984.
Unfortunately for us, Obama’s political ideology is not based on some amateur Marxism he picked up in college. No, the man who may be our next president learned at the feed of a real, live, soviet-style communist – Frank Marshall Davis: Read more

Bearing Drift tackles the potential Obama-Kaine ticket from a slightly different angle. If you think I’m tough on leftists, read here. DCH tackles the “religious faith” of both the Messiah and Kaine. Some folks may consider it bad manners, but the analysis is dead on.
Another interesting question posed by DCH is -
God forbid an Obama – Kaine ticket was elected, what does that do to 2009 GOP ticket if Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling is Gov. Bolling?

I was a bit surprised when the Hedgehog Report thoroughly panned John McCain’s new ad. I think the point comes through loud and clear – Do we want a rock star or a leader? Do we want higher taxes? Do we want higher gas prices?
Kudos to McCain! America can’t afford Barack Obama.

… Why Do They Refuse to Answer Any Questions?
I’m going to start with the short answer –
Because they don’t want you to find out what they are doing!
But don’t stop there. You’ve been patient since Monday. Today is when we finally get to the real meat and potatoes of what Mike Pretl, Betty Crockett, Phil Tilghman, Jerry Waldron, John Pick and their merry band of pranksters have planned for OUR public access channel – PAC-14.
Today’s post is long. So pour a cup and sit back.
Today we’re going to look into:
- What’s the Agenda?
- Who Will Control the new, but not improved, PAC-14?
- How Will They Control It?
- How Will This Harm Me?
Steny Hoyer Is Right About One Thing

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer is right about one thing – people want a change. Unfortunately for Frank Kratovil, he’s not the change they want.
First District Republicans have already voted for a change. They voted for Andy Harris. There is no doubt that the voters will confirm that choice in November.
Rep. Wayne Gilchrest is a good man. In my opinion, he was always honest with the people of his district. He never claimed to be something that he wasn’t. Why would the people of this district want to replace him with a politician like Frank Kratovil whose primary interest is himself, rather than the people who elected him.
We deserve better, and we’ll get it with Andy Harris.

Chris Obenshain has a great post at Bearing Drift on the escalation of attacks on AG candidate John Brownlee by supporters Ken Cuccinelli. While Obenshain doesn’t state it, I believe that this is a great lesson in attempting to meld principle with electability.
No conservative attacks Cuccinelli for his principles. However, the question of whether he is electable with the same coalition that supported Kilgore and Earley is valid.

Like Salisbury Mayor Barrie Tilghman and her continuing saga of the Larson family, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley continues to attract unwanted attention in the way he selects judges. The only difference is that Tilghman has to make up her stories. Unfortunately for Marylanders, the O’Malley Judicial Saga is real.

As noted on Salisbury News, the lawsuit brought by Salisbury Police Chief Allan Webster against Salisbury News publisher Joe Albero has been settled, hours before the trial was due to begin in Snow Hill. Albero could not comment other than to refer me to the lead of his post:
“The Parties have resolved their disagreement on non-monetary terms.”
Given that the settlement is on non-monetary terms and there was no mea culpa from Albero, it is a safe conclusion that he did not initiate the agreement. We can only speculate as to why Webster would settle this late in the game.

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) has pledged to spend $150 million in the 2008 election. There’s just one problem. As David Anderson noted, the SEIU doesn’t have $150 million to spend on political activity.
Since the government wouldn’t give them the money – the lefty solution of choice – they’ve opted for another liberal fave – TAX. Unfortunately for the SEIU (fortunately for you and I), they can’t tax the average citizen – YET. Instead they have imposed a tax on their membership at the local level.
This levy of $6 per member may be illegal. Does that really matter? In the world of Frank Kratovil, Barack Obama, and Fidel Castro it’s the ends that matter, not the means. Of course we can all agree that electing Barack Obama to the presidency and sending Frank Kratovil (who the SEIU has already maxed out to) to Congress is far more important than pesky little details like the rule of law, personal liberty or freedom of speech.
