Will Salisbury Lose Another $10 Million This Year?
Will the Tilghman administration misplace more taxpayer funds? Who knows. What we do know is that those great allies of the taxpayer, Salisbury Council members Louise Smith and Gary Comegys are going to make sure that nothing useful will be done to correct the problem.
After paying great lip service to an assembly of angry citizens by assuring them that the Tilghman administration’s financial mismanagement of the city would be addressed, both Smith and Comegys have refused to allow any legislation to solve these problems on the council agenda. It appears to be their sincere hope that the public will forget the matter. Read more

After worrying about moving the Daily Times to its new facilities, has management decided to re-start publication of the Tilghman Times? Rather than commit times and resources to reporting news, the current petition drive to recall Salisbury Mayor Barrie Tilghman, Councilwoman Louise Smith and Councilman Gary Comegys have caused Gannett’s local management go into overdrive defending their favorite local officials.
Up to now their tactics have been primarily limited to the op-ed page, ridiculing petitioner Jordan Reisman. Today’s edition attempts to turn reporter Greg Latshaw into the hacks of old. Read more

Lo, and behold, look at the oily hairball that the new look, same old deficient content, Daily Times hacked up on Tuesday.
Ace political beat pundit Joe G recently found his way to a clique of Gilchrest fans having a group hug in far off Chestertown. Still crestfallen by their guy’s dismal showing in February’s Republican primary, despite the recruitment of several erstwhile spoilers into the race, they decided that no one more emulated the vibrancy and Nancy Pelosi pleasing perspectives of their fallen Hero of the Taxpayer more than the new Democrat challenger. The fledgling faction was led by one of Gilchrest’s own aides. Translation: since our old buddy the stealth Democrat stumbled, it’s not that big a leap to line up behind the new Democrat hopeful. The Hero of the Taxpayer is politically dead; Long Live Steve the Pirate! Read more

In a totally expected development, a staff member of Rep. Wayne Gilchrest (?-1) has formed a group calling themselves “Republicans for Kratovil”. It appears that reporter Joe Gidjunis and the management of the Daily Times have signed up to be the group’s ad hoc publicity committee. Why else would they bother to give a rump group of nominal Republicans (or closeted Democrats) in Kent County such prominent coverage?
There was never a question of the Daily Times‘ support for Gilchrest. In all fairness, they should have. Hardly an enclave of conservatism, our local paper had the perfect candidate in Gilchrest - liberal on social and environmental issues, moderate on fiscal and defense issues. Unfortunately for them, but not for the people of the First District, their shining knight was showing signs of tarnish and lost.
Now they appear to be linking arms with a group led by paid Gilchrest staff to push the candidacy of Queen Anne’s States Attorney Frank Kratovil. Why? The answer is a simple one. If Andy Harris wins in November, their beliefs will have been repudiated. Read more
