MonoBlogue on Duncan Hunter

If you missed Michael Swartz’s post on his conference call with GOP Presidential candidate Duncan Hunter, you just aren’t reading all the right blogs! Michael’s post appeared both on MonoBlogue and on Red Maryland. They are both must reads!
Michael’s participation in the conference call was fortuitous for us all. I was impressed with Hunter’s views on trade and particularly on immigration. In my view, if we aren’t willing to build the big fence then we aren’t serious about immigration reform.
Hunter is showing himself to be THE Reaganite on the 2008 trail. If it were not for the front-end loading of the process in ‘08 he would have a great chance. However, since the process is so front-end loaded we could have a serious split at the convention and a great candidate like Duncan Hunter could make it through. If not, this could be the beginning of a strong conservative (true Reagan) move similar to the 1976 - 1980 grassroots campaign that gave us eight years of Ronald Reagan.

Also, if Hunter doesn’t make it he would be an outstanding Secretary of Defense IMHO. But I know Hillary won’t pick him.
