Gingrich Says NO to White House Bid

Former Speaker and conservative ideologue Newt Gingrich has made it official. He will not seek the GOP Presidential nomination for 2008.
Gingrich maintains that he can do more good for the country as chairman of “American Solutions”, his non-profit arm, than as a candidate. According to a spokesman, “It is legally impermissible for him to continue on as chairman of American Solutions (for Winning the Future) and to explore a campaign for president”.
It is probably true that Gingrich will accomplish more with American Solutions than as a candidate. The corporatist tilt of the national GOP makes national campaigns difficult for true Reaganites such as Gingrich or Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA). We began to see this tilt to the party in 1996 when Sen. Phil Gramm’s (R-TX) campaign was unable to gain traction and former Rep. Jack Kemp (R-NY) refused to enter the race.

Michelle Malkin has it right. MoveOn.org really are the “bully smear merchants” of the left. The seem to feel that when it comes to calling a decorated soldier like Gen. David Patreus, “Gen. BetrayUs” its just an exercise of their First Amendment rights but when someone wants to criticize them with a T-Shirt it’s somehow trademark infringement.

Martin O’Malley would make a great Governor of California. Unfortunately, we’re stuck with him in the Free State.

Kaine Caves on Jihadist

Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine has finally caved and dumped one of his appointees to the Virginia Commission on Immigration, Dr. Esam Omeish. What is even sadder than this wannabe Jihadist’s appointment is the character of a Governor who would appoint someone like Omeish to a state post.

Of course Kaine has already had some problems with earlier appointments. Tim Kaine is fast turning into a living, breathing reason why Virginia Governors are not allowed to succeed themselves.

Andrew Kujan, over at Free State Politics, is none too happy that those bastions of the right – Sen. Barbara Mikulski and Sen. Ben Cardin – voted in support of the Lieberman / Kyl amendment. Since this amendment is decried by lefty blogs like MyDD it must be pretty good. Right? Read more

The Tilghman Times continues to do its job! You would think that this job would be reporting the news, but that’s not the case. The primary job of the Tilghman Times is to cover-up the mistakes, misdeeds and misrepresentations of the Barrie Tilghman administration in Salisbury.
Case in point. Friday’s front page novella concerning the city FINALLY paying the princely sum of $1 for a half share in the Wicomico / Salisbury Government Office Building. You will note that there is mention of Mr. Holland questioning the council during public comment at Monday’s council meeting. You will also note that there is NO mention as to City Administrator John Pick’s response, which lead to the city finally paying for its share of the building. Read more

If you missed Michael Swartz’s post on his conference call with GOP Presidential candidate Duncan Hunter, you just aren’t reading all the right blogs! Michael’s post appeared both on MonoBlogue and on Red Maryland. They are both must reads!
Michael’s participation in the conference call was fortuitous for us all. I was impressed with Hunter’s views on trade and particularly on immigration. In my view, if we aren’t willing to build the big fence then we aren’t serious about immigration reform. Read more
