It’s For the Community

Perhaps Salisbury Councilman Gary Comegys is test marketing a trick for the Democrat party. A big Dem ploy is to justify a particularly egregious act of wasteful government spending by claiming that “it’s for the children”. Gary is justifying tens of thousands in wasteful spending by the fire department because “it’s for the community“.
We’re not talking about something that could be justified to protect the community. In this case we’re talking about a very fancy and very expensive door. I have sneaking suspicion that “the community” would rather have their taxes lowered that have the door.
Of course tax and spenders like Gary and the Princess Louise will argue that this doesn’t amount to much in the grand scheme of city government, and they would be right. Unfortunately, it’s the doors, plus the take home cars, plus the huge subsidy to the zoo, plus overpaying for land, plus …
You get the idea.
