The fight for the GOP nomination to succeed senior Virginia Sen. John Warner has begun. Warner announced today that he will not seek a sixth term. Likely entrants for the the GOP nod are former Governor Jim Gilmore and Rep. Tom Davis (R-11). This could be a classic battle for the soul of the Virginia GOP.

I just noticed Bill Duvall’s little tirade about my piece concerning Idaho Sen. Larry Craig. While I welcome criticism (I actually love it), I prefer that such criticism actually attack MY ARGUMENTS rather than building a straw man and attempting to tear it down. Read more

Thursday’s “Tilghman Times” ran an op-ed by two local slumlords that is one of the most amusing pieces that I have ever read. I just don’t believe that the authors meant it to be funny.
Local slumlords Stuart Leer and Robert Malone claim that they, and their buddies in the Slumlord Guild (SAPOA), are victims in the devastation plaguing the Camden Heights neighborhood of Salisbury. They claim that it is the Tilghman administration and grassroots groups that they label “very vocal anti-landlord groups” which are to blame.
Flip it around guys. It is YOU and the Tilghman administration that are to blame. Read more

… Shut up! Your nothing but a bunch of ignorant rubes.
Three pieces, all by “Tilghman Times” personnel led me to the conclusion that this is really what the management of this paper think of the voters and taxpayers of Salisbury.
The most recent, which put everything together for me was a piece by TT Managing Editor Erick Sahler on the blog that Sahler shares with Executive Editor Greg Bassett. Titled “Honey and Vinegar“, Sahler writes that citizens should offer positive solutions regarding problems rather than to “blast away at anyone who has upset you or disagrees with you. Flame them and embarrass them as publicly as possible.” Read more

Barrie Tilghman loves to hold press conferences and refuse to answer questions from the public or from those “scurrilous bloggers” because she is only “taking questions from the media”. Well it looks like she’ll have to come up with a better excuse now; thanks to her buddies at Miles & Stockbridge and Chief Allan Webster.
In their zeal to sue Joe Albero they are asking some rather stupid questions. Some of the Chief’s interrogatories ask for the names of Joe’s sources. Lo and behold, Maryland has a press shield law. Section 9-112 of the Maryland Code for Courts and Judicial Proceedings defines “news media” as: Read more

There’s some really great stuff up on Red Maryland.
Mark Newgent has a great post on Libs, Iraq and Vietnam. Make sure you read Mark’s full post on “The Main Adversary“.
Brian Griffiths provides great in-depth coverage of the proposed hijacking of the Free State GOP.
I’ll be commenting later, but you ought to check these out.

… and I could care less.
What I do care about is the blatant character assassination going on from both within the GOP and from without. Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID) was arrested back in June for allegedly soliciting sex in a men’s room of the Minneapolis Airport. Craig subsequently plead guilty to a charge of lewd conduct. Read more
