O’Malley Watch takes an important subject and misses the mark by trying to tie Martin O’Malley into the mess.

Evidently a legal immigrant, Mahamu Kanneh, was tried and convicted of molesting two children. Now the judge has freed this despicable individual because he wasn’t provided an interpreter fast enough.

Rather than even mentioning O’Malley, who had nothing to do with this, OMW should have simply reported the piece and ended with a suggestion that O’Malley move to change the laws. I don’t know what the procedure for removing a judge from office in Maryland is, but that should be undertaken as well (assuming OMW’s report is accurate).

This is not something I take lightly. I decried the call to impeach Judge Brooke Murdock because of her ruling on same-sex marriage. This is a bit different. Whether you agreed with Judge Murdock or not, there was some sound reasoning in her opinion. This judge is claiming that a graduate of the Maryland public schools and a student at a Maryland community college couldn’t understand English well enough to assist in his own defense.

What does this mean for the rest of us? For starters, any immigrant can now try to use this loophole. Hell, I guess my cousin who is a Hopkins-train cardiac surgeon (and a native of Mexico) could even try it if he were ever charged with something in Maryland. Next will be claims from our urban criminals that they need an “ebonics” interpreter.

O’Malley Watch is doing a great job by keeping us all abreast of the shenanigans being pulled by Martin O’Malley and his crew. Rather than provide fodder to those who claim that this excellent resource is merely an “Hate O’Malley” site they should be a little more careful in trying to link O’Malley to some events like this one. Remember, the Dems were wrecking the Free State before O’Malley moved to Annapolis and they will continue to do so as long as they are in control.
