The Hypocrisy of Princess Louise …
… (aka Mikey Smith)
At first I was reluctant to address this issue since I was part of the story; but since the “Salisbury News” posted another award winning video (which I have transfered to YouTube) it caused me to rethink the matter.
During her campaign for Salisbury city council Louise Smith spoke time again of her desire to serve the citizens of Salisbury and her belief that its elected officials owed a responsibility to the citizenry to be good fiscal stewards and faithful listeners. To quote an appearance from February 20th, 2007:
I believe that Salisbury’s elected officials should be more responsive to citizens and more responsible with our tax dollars. I am equally concerned with public safety, removing contention and government in the sunshine.
Since being sworn in we have since learned that she has lied to at least one colleague on council. Her pledge to be “more responsible with our tax dollars” translated into enabling a double digit tax increase BEFORE she even read the budget. While Ms. Smith stated several times that she would allow citizens to comment on ALL pieces of legislation before they came to a vote and that she wouldn’t impose arbitrary time limits on them she as instead chosen the “Mike Dunn” approach to following her own rules. It appears that comment prior to rubber stamping of legislation will only be permitted if Princess Mikey knows that she has plenty of friendly speakers in the audience. Otherwise she calls the question. Friends of Princess Louise are allowed to speak ad nausem, while those in opposition are interrupted and / or gaveled for time.
The hypocrisy that is the Tilghman / Comegys / Smith axis of evil will continue to thrive, at least into 2009. More tax money will be wasted. More taxpaying citizens will flee the gulag Barrieland.

Louise: I WANT MY VOTE BACK, please.
PS: where can you get one or more of those bumper stickers?
Cato–you are so correct in your statements here, and I have heard many comments from others stating how glad they were that you stood up to Mikey Smith at the last meeting. Good job! Now, let’s see if she does the same thing at the next meeting–are you up to giving it a try??
I thought I was going to need a puke bucket before that meeting was over. Glad we had a crime watch meeting and at least here I was close to the throne!
They surely need to change the criteria for the enterprise zone.
When I heard “Did Super Giant get a tax break?” something clicked. I know a lot of people that work at Giant and think they all are great people, however they were bought by a company based in Holland(Overholt I Think?), why should we give any company that isn’t based here in this country a tax break at all?
Lesson to all–next mayoral or city council election we cannot be tricked again, this Louise Smith debacle was most likely carefully orchestrated by the real powers, and they are not dumb, we cannot afford to be fooled again.
That next election is in April, 2009 — about 18 months from now — and the following offices will be up for grabs:
Mayor
Council: seats now held by Debbie Campbell & Shanie Shields.
Thus, it’s a real opportunity — possibly the last chance — to save Salisbury.
Amen, Sickof.
I think the bumper stickers can be got by emailing disappointedvoters@email.com
Seemed easy enough fer even an ole dog to recollect.
But someone correct me if’n I’m wrong.
This humidity is killin’ my bones.

Howdy CD long time no see or hear. Sick and FYI are right on target, “Don’t Get Fooled Again.”
Maybe it’s just too true that she actually meant to remove both contention and government in the sunshine. So far, so good, Louise!
