Saturday’s “Tilghman Times” article on the deflating condo bubble indirectly inferred a far different future than those on Salisbury’s West Side may be hoping for. Several comments in the “Story Chat” in the online edition broke the silence.
While it is no secret that Salisbury wishes to “gentrify” the North Prong condos are being constructed on the west side of the Wicomico River there has been sparse comment as to what is to become of the city’s West Side. Does anyone actually believe that people are going to drop $400,000 upwards to over $1 million dollars for “luxury residences” that front some of the most blighted areas of the city? Read more

Saturday’s “Tilghman Times” has run yet another front page advertisement for their lord and master, the Barrie Tilghman administration. As we witnessed at last Monday’s city council meeting, the Committee to Re-Elect Her Majesty is now in business. While I didn’t see an authority line, this attempt to show how tough the Tilghman Administration is on her slum lord buddies is one of the first in an undoubtedly long line of propaganda pieces disguised as news articles. Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore has launched a blog – the Virginia Patriot. There isn’t much content since today appears to be the launch. I hope he keeps it up. In anticipation, we’ve added it to the Virginia blogroll.
Virginians do tend to take their blogging far more seriously than we do up in the Free State. Perhaps this is because their conservatives tend to be more idea based than the majority of “conservatives” we see up here. In the Commonwealth folks understand that Republican doesn’t necessarily equal Conservative. I guess that’s why we need more Andy Harris’ and Lowell Stoltzfus’.
Thanks to Jim Bacon for the head’s up.

A federal judge has ruled that the town of Hazleton, PA cannot enforce city ordinances which target illegal immigrants. The city had passed laws which made it illegal to hire illegals or to rent homes to illegals. Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta said that the city would likely appeal the ruling of U.S. District Court Judge James Munley.
Gee, a federal judge ruling that it’s illegal for a town to enforce U.S. law, at least in the case of hiring illegals. God Bless America.

… Your Child Molesters
O’Malley Watch takes an important subject and misses the mark by trying to tie Martin O’Malley into the mess.
Evidently a legal immigrant, Mahamu Kanneh, was tried and convicted of molesting two children. Now the judge has freed this despicable individual because he wasn’t provided an interpreter fast enough. Read more

While not as eloquent as TR’s famous remarks on the English language and its role in the U.S., this video serves as a reminder of something we are fast losing – a common language.
Does the left really want the Balkanization of America? No, I don’t think so. Unfortunately, their emphasis on “feelings” rather than reason is quickly leading us down that road.
