Will The Old Mall Ever Come Down?
Of course it will, but only after the developers have received their big bag of cash.
Remember when the Salisbury City Council approved the final rezoning of the old Salisbury Mall property? Then Council President Mike Dunn told the public that we could expect to see the ball swing within 30 days. Well, 30 days came and went. The developers still have not contracted with any firm to handle the demolition. They have not even filed for a permit.
Why would the developers choose to appeal the city’s demolition order? As reported in today’s “Tilghman Times” the old Boulevard Theater is nearing demolition. This is months after the T2 reported that the owners had filed for a permit.
I don’t know when the city is planning on borrowing the funds to hand over to the developers (I’ve got better things to do with my time and money than filing FOIA requests), but don’t expect any progress to be made until after the developers have the money in THEIR bank account.
As a side note - the word from friends on the Northern Neck is that these same developers are having problems with their Colonial Beach, VA project. Will the delays and problems their affect the old mall project?

With the state of the real estate market for new homes and condos, plus the City’s poor fiscal position, that TIF deal will be devastating if it gets done.
I thought they got run out of Virginia? Scum sucking weasles. The Old Mall developers are the bottom feeders of the bottom feeders, the Mare and Puppets.
As long as the Civic Center wants the parking they will never have to pay a cent in fines, or be forced to do anything.
Have the Mall Dudes lived up to their obligation to pay the Maulers their attorneys’ fees yet?????
Those crooks won’t spend a dime until the city puts the money in their account, you can bet on that just like cato said.
