Our local concerned citizen was kind enough to send my this copy of the “E-FOOLS” bumper sticker and is sending me my very own in the mail. I thought you might like to see it.
REMEMBER – write to DisappointedVoters@email.com to request your very own. Put one on your car and then you can drive proudly throughout Salisbury.

Just when I needed a smile, along comes a clever Salisbury citizen who is promoting a new cause. Recently some Salisbury voters have received a letter from a concerned citizen announcing the formation of E-FOOLS – Ex-Friends Of Our Louise Smith.
Enclosed in the letter is a bumper sticker. I’ve been too tied up at the office to go see one, but I am told they read: LOUISE – I Want My Vote Back!
If you haven’t received your very own bumper sticker I encourage you to request one via email at DisappointedVoters@email.com

Since 1967 the Salisbury Jaycees have sponsored the annual Fourth of July fireworks. After 40 years it appears that there will be a hiatus. The Jaycees announced late Thursday that there will be no fireworks on the Fourth.
Initially there appeared to be a funding problem. That was taken care of by the County and a private citizen. “Salisbury News” publisher Joe Albero stepped up to the plate and offered to underwrite the affair with one provision – that law enforcement officers, firefighters, and their families could attend free of charge. Despite this generous offer the fireworks were still canceled. Citing “logistical problems”, a member of the Jaycees stated that they just weren’t able to put the entire affair together.
Rumors of problems with the folks over at Perdue Stadium can’t be confirmed.

In the past I have commented that Salisbury Mayor Barrie Tilghman appears to consider herself some form of minor league Bill Clinton. Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley has wrapped himself in the Clinton banner, committing early to Bill Clinton’s campaign for First Lady. This morning, DuvaFiles pointed to something else that Barrie and the Guv seem to have in common – crooked land deals. Read more

Of course it will, but only after the developers have received their big bag of cash.
Remember when the Salisbury City Council approved the final rezoning of the old Salisbury Mall property? Then Council President Mike Dunn told the public that we could expect to see the ball swing within 30 days. Well, 30 days came and went. The developers still have not contracted with any firm to handle the demolition. They have not even filed for a permit. Read more

As noted in this morning’s “Tilghman Times” the Wicomico Neighborhood Congress appears to be moving forward, and well ahead of schedule. The early spate of of bad publicity aside, the vast majority of steering committee members have worked hard to accomplish their primary goal of designing and implementing a method for citizen groups from throughout Wicomico County to come together and work on solving shared problems and discussing shared concerns.
This was all accomplished despite the Tilghman Times’ complicity in promoting the race pimping skulduggery of Salisbury City Councilwoman Shanie “just call me Rev. Al” Shields. Needless to say Shanie accomplished her goal, not of promoting diversity on the steering committee, but to ensure the participation of her slumlord masters. I will always believe that if the slumlords were provided a seat on the steering committee to begin with we never would have heard a peep about an all white steering committee.
I look forward the first meeting of the Congress and hope that much is accomplished. I realize that some of my compatriots in the local blogosphere resent the idea of WNC. I can only say that grassroots participation in local concerns is never a bad thing, whether I agree with the group or not.

The Wicomico County and Salisbury City governments share the same office building, affectionately known as the GOB. That’s about the only thing that they seem to share. When you look at the styles and attitudes of the elected leaders of the two entities the differences are startling. Read more

I’ve been spending some time reading the new blogs being posted on the “Tilghman Times” website. Most of my friends don’t seem to like them, I honestly don’t know why. I’m particularly pleased with Joe G’s “Shore Politics” blog. It’s a pretty good read. I also think that Gwen Garland’s “Biz Buzz” is going to be great over the long haul. I just wish she had picked a better title. You’ve probably noticed that I like alliteration, maybe a little too much, but “Biz Buzz” is a tad much even for me. Read more

Despite his assurances while running for Governor we are all pretty confident that a series of whopping tax increases are on horizon for Marylanders courtesy of Gov. Martin O’Malley. Now it appears that the Guv is endorsing localities to raise the rates as well.
According to Salisbury News, the Governor not only endorsed the Barrie Tilghman – Louise Smith – Gary Comegys – Shanie Shields tax hike, but believes that it should have happened some time ago. Now remember, this tax hike is in stark contrast to the small tax hike endorsed this year, and last, by responsible public officials to help pay for public safety. Read more

If you are concerned about coverage by the “Tilghman Times” how do you keep them at bay? Easy, hire the spouse of one of the editors.
As I have noted in the past, the Communications Director for Rep. Wayne Gilchrist (R-1) is none other than the spouse of “Tilghman Times” Executive Editor Greg Bassett. Whatever Mrs. Bassett’s other qualifications she helps to assure Rep. Gilchrist good coverage on the Lower Shore. Read more
