96 Hours and Counting - 1
As time permits I’ll be posting some of the latest happenings on the Salisbury campaign trail. REMEMBER - the election is Tuesday.
Quite possibly the most humorous, and distressing, event of today was:

Don’t miss these posts from MonoBlogue. Michael provides us with one of his great summaries of the WMDT forum from Tuesday night. For those of us who missed the Wicomico County Republican Club meeting on Monday night Michael keeps us up to speed.
I guess I have to disagree with Mike about one thing. He highlights Joe Albero’s recent piece on Gary Comegys wife Debbie. Behavior and character are issues. I don’t think that the doctors over at Peninsula Eye Center would be thrilled to find out that Gary’s wife “flips off” one their neighbors across the street because that person has the temerity to display Tim Spies and Terry Cohen signs. Is Gary’s personal history a valid campaign issue? You bet. Is his wife’s behavior? I would argue that it is. Spouses influence office holders whether you want to admit or not.

During the later half of the Salisbury City Council campaign we have actually seen fairly balanced coverage of the race. That is primarily due to the replacement of Laren Hall Hughes with Katherine Crowell. Unfortunately, editors Greg Bassett and Joe Carmean seem to be interjecting their politics into the last few days of the race. Read more

If you missed Tuesday night’s Salisbury City Council debate on WMDT to really missed a debate. In a rare turn for our local media, Kenny Beck pulled no punches when questioning the candidates. I was in Philadelphia all day Monday and missed most of the Salisbury City Council meeting. I arrive home just in time to catch the end of Councilwoman Debbie Campbell’s questions followed by a lesson in Bubbanomics and Mikey’s rantings.
I’ll post more this week, but don’t miss these two gems from the “Gunwpowder Chronicle”. Start with Sunday’s post and follow-up with his take on the meeting.

The Wicomico Neighborhood Congress was a great idea. To bring representatives of different neighborhoods and areas of the county together to share concerns and ideas could only result in something positive. Then we were treated to the demands of Salisbury Councilwoman Shanie Shields and local NAACP head Mary Ashanti. Read more

Even before the primary election it became clear that Messrs. Atkins, Ewalt and Comegys are running as a ticket fabricated by Barrie Tilghman and her power base – landlords and their club (SAPOA) and various business interests for whom the Chamber of Commerce and a faction of the Greater Salisbury Committee are the mouthpiece.

We all know that Salisbury Council President Mike Dunn is moving. His home on West College Avenue is up for sale. With Mike leaving the Salisbury City Council in mid-April Monday meetings are no longer guaranteed to be the cheapest entertainment in town. The question has been - Where is Mikey moving to? Despite previous protestations that they weren’t a ticket, the Barrie Tilghman / Slumlord ticket of GARY COMEGYS, JOHN ATKINS and DON EWALT made its official debut on the corner of Mill and W. Main Streets in Salisbury.

What is more sacred to the voters of Wicomico County than the revenue cap? While I’m strongly opposed to the revenue cap, I don’t believe that it should ever be lifted without the explicit permission of the voters of Wicomico County. A referendum is the only way to obtain that permission. Read more

According to the “Roanoke Times”, the answer is yes. Michelle Malkin discusses the recent publication of carry permit holders in the Virginia paper. The media may not get it, but citizens know that right to carry leads to reduced rates of violent crime.
