WMDT Debate A Success

Monday night WMDT-TV (Channel 47) hosted a debate of all ten candidates for Salisbury City Council. According to reports from inside the closed event Kenny Beck did an excellent job and ran a pretty fair show.

While Mayor Tilghman was an invited guest of the station, she chose not to attend. Instead of the Mayor, candidates and guests were treated to the presence of her spouse, local insurance man Matt Tilghman. Reports from inside the forum were that Mr. Tilghman is as crude as his Mrs. While all guests were asked to be silent during the forum, Mr. Tilghman insisted on testing the extent of his four letter vocabulary and making snide comments about the candidates.

Topics included crime, the old mall TIF, growth and blogs. My sole criticism of Kenny Beck is why waste time on a question about the local blogs. The state of the city’s finances are a far more important topic that needs to be discussed.

Make sure you watch the forum on Saturday evening at 7PM on WMDT.

People fear what they don’t understand, I guess some fear the blogs because it is for the most part unedited comments from the taxpayers. You can run, but you can not hide.

I watched thew WMDT forum tonight 2/24 at 7PM. I thought it was OK, thought the firemen’s forum was done much better. It didn’t have me see any of the candidates in a different light, just thought the firemen and citizen’s questions had more meat on the bones.
