The Congressmen from Delmarva
Delaware Grapevine profiles Rep. Mike Castle (R-DE) and his recent run of party line votes (with the Dems). It reminds me of the other Congressman from Delmarva, our own Rep. Wayne Gilchrest (R-MD). Nice guys both. I just wonder why they bother running on the GOP line. They are obviously more at home with their left leaning brethren.
In an earlier age they both would be called liberals. Of course that’s a dirty word in today’s politics so they are “moderates”. Since a pseudo-conservative GOP will never permit them to exercise real influence if we are in the majority, I just question why they feel more comfortable in the party of Lincoln and Reagan. Perhaps because it has become the party of Exxon and Pat Robertson? I don’t think so.
