Biden Has ‘No Comment’

Beau Biden, that is.

Delaware’s brand new Attorney General, and US Senator in training, had a curt “No Comment” today to leaked news that Parker Brothers was preparing a lawsuit against the legislative and executive branches of the First State for trademark infringement.

Parker Brothers will contend that Delaware’s legislative and executive branch ID cards bear such a close resemblance to the Get Out Of Jail cards that are familiar to generations of Americans as a key feature of Parker Brothers’ famous Monopoly game that it constitutes trademark infringement.

The scheme only came to light with the recent traffic stop of amateur pugilist and Delaware legislator, John Atkins, who proffered one of the cards to an Ocean City, MD policewoman trainee.  The trainee, used to playing the game at the station house, immediately accepted it as bona fide.  In keeping with the modified rules of the game, as played in Ocean City and the First State, she did require him to miss a turn driving home.

Parker Brothers will contend the treatment meted out to (your adjectives here) quasi celebrity Paris Hilton today accurately shows what should happen to drivers operating under the influence, without fraudulently using their trademarked game piece as a springboard from justice.  http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070122/ap_en_mo/people_hilton

Speculation as to the damages they will seek ranged from naming rights to Punkin Chunkin to award of a block of oceanfront property in Dewey Beach.  Other remedies were also under consideration.  Courthouse wags thought Biden would try to drag out the process with legal maneuvers until his father has completed his two terms as President.
