John, John, John

Up until today my opinion of Salisbury City Administrator John Pick has been that he is an honest, hardworking public servant trying to do a difficult job under even more difficult circumstances. Come on, would you want to work for Barrie Tilghman?
Unfortunately John crossed the line today from hard working bureaucrat to political water bearer for Barrie and her “council leadershipâ€. Today John moved from civil service to political foolishness with his op/ed piece in the “Tilghman Timesâ€.

Instead TIF bonds are paid by tax revenues generated by the improvements to the project.

In Saturday morning’s Grapevine section of the “Tilghman Times” editorial page one reader wrote:

do their fair share to help, and then every project they are asking for
an exemption from the impact fees for 55-and-older housing. When we

children are in desperate need of more schools and school upgrades.
Unfortunately a few have found the little loophole and are running with
it. Is there a way to make the impact fees collected from a
55-and-older home go toward something else like roads?
Tim Spies For Council

Two days ago, Tim Spies filed as a candidate for Salisbury City Council. This morning the “Tilghman Times” ran the story on the front page of the Delmarva section. Read the article. If you don’t already know Tim you will get a small glimpse into a man who can really be a force for positive change in the city of Salisbury.
Besides his work with the Camden Neighborhood Association and the “Weed and Seed” program Tim has worked diligently to improve the quality of life in Salisbury. Tim’s a veteran of the US Navy. He’s the kind of guy anyone would want as a neighbor.
If you want to see positive change in Salisbury, Tim will be one of the people you vote for this Spring. As his campaign formalizes, we’ll post ways to contact Tim and get involved in his campaign. Volunteer. Talk to your neighbors. Agree to put a yard sign out front. The time is now.

This morning I read with amusement the “Jeers” section of the “Tilghman Times” editorial page.
They attacked some of our local bloggers, possibly including me, with this little ditty:

half-truths and innuendo about local institutions, public officials and

you spew your vitriol. Better yet, get involved in an effort to improve
the community.
