A Shell Game
The Christina School District has a $13 million deficit. Of course this is contrary to state law.
Kudos to Superintendent Lillian Lowery for demanding an independent audit as a condition of accepting her position. At least she, and the public, know what she’s up against.
Will the state bail out the board? Will the public agree to a tax increase? Will layoffs ensue? Stay tuned.
