On Tuesday, Hadley ran an interesting post on the Salisbury Police Department. The Chief is loosing 12 officer and want to hire an additional 12. We’ve already heard Shanie Shields’ solution – raise taxes. Read more

I got a letter in the mail today from the RNC asking for money so that they could help promote the President’s policies. What if you don’t want amnesty for illegal aliens? What if you believe in fiscal conservatism?
Pete DuPont provides a good explanation why I don’t support the current GOP fiscal policies.

Just about any time that Salisbury Councilwoman Debbie Campbell wants to bring up something substantive she gets shut down. Motions die without a second or she is rudely interrupted.
At Monday’s Salisbury Council meeting Ms. Campbell felt that the city giveaway of the Ulman Theater property was too important to try the front door. Instead, she came around the back. Ms. Campbell moved to extend the contract the owners’ had with city (and failed to comply with). The rubber stamp swallowed it hook, line and sinker. Read more

It’s no secret that I am no fan of the Barrie Tilghman administration. However, I have to give the Mayor credit for one thing – that woman can spin. While not as bright as the gang from the Clinton administration, Barrie makes up for it with a singular lack of conscience and a boldness that few politicians can muster. Read more

PolitaKid has an interesting story about a racial discrimination suit filed against the Wilmington Police Department. Two aspects about this story really intrigued me. You don’t usually see a white woman filing a racial discrmination suit. You also don’t usually see a city where a promotion in the police department has to be approved by the mayor, not in this era.

The Baltimore Sun has chutzpah, if nothing else. Under the guise of a news piece they have published an editorial rant against former Talbot Delegate and current PSC chairman Ken Schisler. The Sun would rather Schisler not have filed his lawsuit to halt the Dem’s mad power grab over the PSC. In lieu of that, they think he should at least have the good taste to file his suit in a county where he is sure to lose before a Democrat judge.

Delaware Legislators are slightly miffed. Delmarva Power parent PEPCO has announced that they will not charge Maryland residents interest if they opt for a phase in of higher rates. Delaware customers will be charged interest. I guess Bob Ehrlich is just a better negotiator than Ruth Ann Minner.

Baltimore Mayor Martin O’Malley has an energy plan. He wants a new Public Service Commission that will determine “fair rates”. They tried this in California. It didn’t work.
Nobody wants their utility rates to go up. The problem is that when the Maryland utilities agreed to freeze rates, oil was at around $10 per barrel. Now it’s over $70 per barrel. The price of coal has risen nearly as much.
Do you honestly believe that the regulated utilities will sell power for less than their cost?
