Gilchrest Opposed to Blackwater Development

According to WBAL-TV, Rep. Wayne Gilchrest (R-MD) is opposed to the proposed Blackwater Resorts development south of Cambridge.

“It’s not a done deal. I think if we get enough people out there to show the local government that this is a bad idea, we can turn this thing around,” said U.S. Rep. Wayne Gilchrest, R-District 1.

Good for Gilchrest. Remember how the Hyatt was to be the savior of Dorchester’s economy? Now Rich Colburn is saying they have to have the Blackwater development to save the economy.

After that doesn’t do it, what development will you need next, Rich?

Development and its impact have to be viewed for the long-term and more comprehensively. Once a sensitive area like that is destroyed, it’s gone. I’ve heard of some areas being reclaimed, but it involved wholesale destruction of the surrounding area and then it took decades.

Don’t even mention the name Rich Colburn. “Send in the clowns/don’t bother, he’s here”.
