TIT, TAT, TIF

What is a TIF? TIF stands for tax increment financing. A city, or county, floats a bond issue where the tax revenue from a specially created TIF district is pledged to pay off the bond issue. Salisbury City Council is considering just such an arrangement to complete Phase III of the Northeast [...]

Mike and the Babysitter

Monday night’s Salisbury Council meeting was relatively uneventful and went by in near record time. The big event was a non-event. Council President Mike Dunn behaved himself. Sure he still doesn’t follow all of the rules, but there wasn’t one snide remark (at least the PAC-14 audio didn’t pick any up).

Conservative Australia

Jokers to the Right.com made Sunday “Angloshpere” day. This post is on Australia, which seems to be moving away from its love affair with all that is Socialist.

The Goldwater’s Proposal

The Goldwater’s Oracle has an interesting proposal for Maryland teachers (and their union). I don’t know how much the MSTA has been spending on commercials, but they should have called him first.

Conservatism as a Non-Ideology

Great post on American Conservatism via OpinionJournal.com. Since the post World War II rebirth of conservatism in America one its greatest strengths is also one of its greatest weaknesses.

Barrie the Blogger

Barrie wants to blog. At least that’s what she claims in Saturday’s Pulitzer Prize worthy piece in the “Daily Times”.

Zoo Commission Passes Mind Reading Course

I don’t know about you, but I failed that mind reading class I took in school. Evidently, the Salisbury Zoo Commission members have managed to pass the class.
On the agenda for Monday’s Salisbury City Council meeting is Resolution No. 1372, a change to the by-laws of the Salsibury Zoo Commission. The purpose of [...]

My Hero Hillary

Salisbury Mayor Barrie Parsons Tilghman must be a big fan of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. If Hillary isn’t Barrie’s number one hero, then she sure has spent a lot of time studying her rhetoric.

Delaware May Up The Ante To Graduate High School

I can see the teachers screaming about having to advise and grade the projects (or demanding a whopping raise). I also foresee either massive grade inflation or discontinuation when scores (if not hundreds) don’t graduate and opponents start screaming some …ism.

Report Card On The Bush Presidency

Delathought grades the Bush presidency. I may not agree with him on every point, but it’s a well thought out and well written piece.
I may respect George W. Bush, but I’m not a “big government conservative”. While I know that their are a lot of us old Reaganites out there, it’s great to [...]

Bad Move

Gov. Bob Ehrlich seems less likely to block the DPW takeover of P&O’s Baltimore terminals. Bad move, Governor. President Bush is not going to raise enough money for your campaign to make up for the loss of this issue. - Washington Post

“Daily Times” Never Fails to Disappoint

We’ve always tried to temper our criticism of the local paper. I have never been one who expects complete “objectivity” from reporters (or their editors). Everyone brings a point of view to their work. Journalists are no exception.

Critical Thinking 101

Barrie Tilghman’s press conference Friday reminded me of my school days. Based on her remarks she would have failed any critical thinking course which I have ever taken or taught.
