Fight The Power!

You’ve got a chance to fight the old mall project! Linda Kent, et al are in the process of fighting the project. My understanding is that their suit is based on the council’s implementation of the PDD (Planned Development District) zoning classification.

Since this matter has received the “Paul Wilber Seal of Approval” I would guess that Mrs. Kent and company have a good chance of success. Unfortunately, lawsuits cost money. You can take part by contributing to the effort.

Send contributions to:

Douglas Kent - Mall

Salisbury, MD 21804

or call 410-742-7011 to talk about things or ask questions.

Arrogance + No Public Support = PANIC

More notes from Monday’s Salisbury Council meeting.

What happens when you are used to doing whatever you want because of public apathy and then the voters start to get involved? If you are Salisbury Mayor Barrie Tilghman you begin to panic. If you are Mike Dunn and Gary Comegys you start acting like my twelve year old (who I constantly accuse of behaving like a two year old). If you are Shanie Shields and Lynn Cathcart you just keep babbling on as usual because, while you’re not the sharpest tack in the box, you know the public doesn’t seem to expect any more from you. The Dems Do It Again

Gov. Ehrlich agrees with me. It’s the height of hypocrisy. Just last week the Democrats were criticizing the Governor for wanting to reduce a portion of the property tax increase he implemented two years ago. The Dems wanted to spend it instead.

Now the Maryland Democratic Party is attacking the Governor for raising taxes and not doing enough to reduce spending. Ain’t life grand in Wonderland. - Baltimore Sun

Thank You, Gov. Ehrlich

Salisbury should thank Gov. Bob Ehrlich for not selecting to fund the Barrie Tilghman / Gary Comegys / Urban Salisbury / Developer boondoggle on the North Prong. The “Urban Rivers Project II” would have replaced the jobs along the North Prong with condos.

I’m sure that our local developer class is saddened by the news and plan to vote Democrat in November. - Daily Times

While I am personally not in favor of same-sex marriage, I do believe that it is a matter for the states and not the Federal government. It certainly isn’t a matter for the judicial branch. Given that this is the People’s Republic of Maryland, I certainly wasn’t surprised when a Baltimore judge ruled last week that banning same-sex marriage in Maryland was unconstitutional. Read more

Felons for O’Malley

Baltimore Delegate Salima Marriott is introducing a bill to restore the votings rights of all convicted felons in Maryland. The bill has failed in the past, but “Justice Maryland” (a group pushing for this bill) thinks that they have a chance this year. According to Tara Andrews, executive director of the group, Democrat legislators should vote for passage this year. Why?

FELON = BLACK = DEMOCRAT

This is their logic, not mine. Just don’t be surprised if it is the legislature’s logic as well. - Washington Times

Will We Ever Learn?

from the latest issue of National Review -

The Abramoff scandal is another failure of Big Government Conservatism. The more Washington spends, and the more obscure decisions it makes that can enrich or ruin small groups of people, the more attention it will get from selfish and principled rent-seekers. It’s no accident that congressional Republicans were cleaner when they were much more serious about limiting government. We yearn for the days when the scandal du jour in Washington was over a Republican Speaker of the House teaching an ideologically charged college course about American history. House Republicans won’t regain the public trust, or the enthusiasm of their base, until they return to their first principles.
