The Most Effective Legislators

The Maryland Chamber of Commerce’s blog has a post about the Gazette’s annual best and worst list for the General Assembly. Not surprising was Lowell Stoltzfus’ entry as one of the most effective senators. Equally not surprising was Richard Colburn’s entry as the second least effective member of the Senate.

Somewhat of surprise was Wicomico’s Norm Conway only making number 2 on the list for the House. How does the chairman of the Appropriations Committee get beaten out by anyone but the speaker?

Conway has used his position to bully rather than legislate. How effective is that in the long run? Take a look at his mismanagement of the Wal Mart thing and then think about how badly those jobs were needed. Conway doesn’t represent the Shore he represents a few special interests.
