A Victory For Education?

This “New York Times” editorial discusses the recent suit brought by the NEA against President Bush’s “No Child Left Behind” act. It unfortunately begs a far greater question?

Why is the federal government involved in education to begin with? This is another example of a “conservative” making Lyndon Johnson look like Barry Goldwater. At the rate we are going, the federal and states governments (thanks to unfunded mandates) will be broke before I have grandchildren. The question for those of us in the GOP will then be who to blame it on? Even Karl Rove couldn’t spin this against the Dems.

Keep an eye on healthcare costs as well. The President’s prescription drug plan could very well give us HillaryCare, courtesy of the GOP. I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re all on Medicare within the next ten years. It will be the only way to keep the system afloat.

We could always change the national anthem to “O Canada”.
